History Sabah FC began its activity on the 8th of September 2017. In 2017/18 season the “white-blues” got the 5th place participating in I Azerbaijan Division.

On the 12th of May 2018, it has been decided by the AFFA License Commission to give a license to Sabah Football Club to participate in Azerbaijan Premier League.

The first game of the Sabah FC in Azerbaijan Premier League was played against Keshla Football Club on the 12th of August 2018. Sabah FC defeated Keshla FC 0:1 at the ASK Arena. It also was 1st victory of Sabah FC in Azerbaijan Premier League. Marko Devic, former player of Ukraine national football team scored the only goal of match.

The logo and colours of the club

The sunshine described on the logo of Sabah incarnates a new day, new hopes and victories. The shield is the expression of the defence perseverance, inviolability of the gate of team. The main colours of Sabah are blue-white. The colours reveal seriousness, purposefulness, confidence, power and strength.

Administration and the Supervisory board

The founder of Sabah Football Club is Yagub Huseynov, the head of Bridge Group of Companies.

There is also supervisory board in the Club. The board consist of 5 members – Firudin Gurbanov (the Deputy Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan), Igor Ponomaryov (the former football player and coach, the Olympic champion of 1988, honored sports master of USSR), Rahman Hajiyev (the head of the “1news.az” website and the “Bakinskiy raboçiy” newspaper), Rauf Khalilov (the entrepreneur), Yagub Huseynov (the entrepreneur).

The head of the Supervisory board is Furudin Gurbanov.


Clothing

The Club uses blue-white colours in its clothing set. The colour of the main clothing of Sabah is blue-white-blue and the colour of reserve is white-blue-white.

The club used Spanish clothing company Joma when it was represented in the I Division. Sabah replaced Joma with an Italian company Macron after getting the licence for Premier League.

Stadium

Sabah Football Club helds its home matches in the Alinja Arena which is situated in Masazir town. The capacity of the Alinja Arena is 13,000. The matches of Sabah FC which are held in the stadium are watched by 1500-2000 people.

The play ground of the stadium is covered with natural grass. There are, in the stadium dressing rooms, health center, press conference room and rooms for special guest to watch the match.

The Stadium temporarily hosted Premier leagues of Neftchi and Qarabag football clubs in the previous years. Sabah FC is the first club using the Alinja Arena as a main stadium in the highest league. The second highest number of fans of the Azerbaijan Premier League 2018/19 season is recorded in the match between Sabah FC and QarabagFCis stadium. The match that was ended up with a 2:0 score victory of the Agdam representative was watched by 4600 people.

Team

The head coach of Sabah is Elshad Ahmadov. His assistants are Sattar Aliyev and Rovshan Babayev. The goalkeeper coach is Vitali Kovalyov. There are 6 legionaries in Sabah FC, from Ukraine, Brazil, Paraguay and Serbia (Marco Devic, Vanderson Silva, Erik Ramos, Sasha Stamenkovic and Filip Ivanovic).

Tamkin Khalilzade the member of the national team of Azerbaijan.

Academy

Sabah FC cooperates with Vatan Specialized Olympic Reserves Children and Youth Football School. Vatan was founded as a Children and Youth Football School in 1967. In its first years, the Vatan Football School was led by the Azerbaijan Football legend Alakbar Mammadov. Since 26th of December 2007, the school is called “Vətən” Specialized Olympic Reserves Children and Youth Football School according to the decision of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

There are 2 campuses of Vatan Football School in Baku. Besides Baku, talented children and adolescents from different regions of Azerbaijan are trained in the football school. The teams consist of the players of Vatan Football School get chances to perform in international football tournaments organized abroad.

The different age groups of the football school perform successfully in matches organized by AFFA. Participating in 2017/18 seasonal championships in 7 age groups (U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15 and U16) the Vatan football school renewed its own record getting 3 gold (U11, U12 and U15), 1 silver (U 16), 1 bronze medals.
