march tune

The march from the third act was re-used by John Gay in the BEGGAR'S OPERA; it is sung by gang of robbers under the title "So let us hit the road". By eighteenth century standards this did not count as plagarism, since there was no copyright law and Gay intended it to be recognized as Handel's music. Unreferenced trivia removal

The aria "Lascia che io pianga" from this opera has probably been used in several films, animes, tv shows, commercials etc. The "Rinaldo today" section of this article was starting to attract mentions of its every use (no matter how obscure or incidental. They add nothing whatsoever to the reader's understanding of the opera Rinaldo. None of the mentions are referenced. None of them were even mentioned in the linked articles, and all of them of them are trivial, except possibly the movie Farininelli, which I have now referenced to a reliable secondary source. I have removed the rest. In future, I propose to remove any additions to that section, unless they are accompanied by similar quality references and inline citations which verify that the music plays a significant role in the film and why. A link to IMDb (or other database) which merely lists the aria in the sound track is not enough. See Cavalleria rusticana for what is required. Voceditenore (talk) 05:57, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
