Durations of penalties

edit

This edit caught my eye. The edit changed the unsupported assertion that the pduration of the Reclusion Perpetua penalty was 30 years to read 40 years instead without providing support for the new figure.

Chapter three Section one of the Revised Penal Code civers Duration of Penalties, and can be seen here. It gives durations as follows:

  • Reslusion Perpetua: 30 years. However this was amended to 40 years by RA7659.
  • Reclusion Temporal: 12 years and one day to 20 years.
  • Prision mayor: Six years and one day to 12 years.
  • Prision correccional, suspension, and destierro: Six months and one day to six years.
  • Arresto mayor: One month and one day to six months.
  • Arresto menor: One day to thirty days.

Looking at this, I noticed that just ablve the Penalties section there is an assertion that the duration of the reclusion perpetua penalty ranges from 20 years and 1 day to 40 years' imprisonment, citing RA9346 in support. I looked at the cited source and found no support for that assertion. However it is supported by RA7659.

Here, I've added content and cited sources to clarify this. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 22:50, 25 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
