Dave 18:21, 13 September 2006 (UTC) I'm trying to clarify this article and expand on it to get rid of the content tag permanently. If you have any changes you'd like to make, please do so, but don't revert it so that we can move forward toward making this page complete.Reply

I reverted the page because the only "expansion" so far had been the addition of a link to a new article by the same contributor, that's been {{prod}}ed as a POV dicdef. But now I see you've actually added some content here so you needn't worry about me or anyone else reverting it. :-) (Just be sure to keep it NPOV.) - (), 23:02, 13 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

What is the distinction between this and Field-reversed configurations? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:CCDD:E740:30CF:A0B7:D64E:7452 (talk) 22:11, 9 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hmm, this is confusing, I got here by following a link from the Spheromak page, but this is the Talk section of the Reversed field pinch? Oh well, anyway, all three of Spheromak, Field-reversed configuration, and Reversed field pinch are different things. Spheromak and FRC are similar in that they are both Compact toroids, but the magnetic field shape is different between the two (toroidal+polodial for spheromak vs. pure poloidal in FRC). The RFP is another different thing, more conceptually related to Tokamak but again changing up the magnetic field. Neither RFP or Tokamak are considered Compact toroids because you have physical magnetic coils going through the center. They are all types of magnetically confined plasmas I suppose, so they could be linked from a more high-level article, but I don't think any should be merged.

Guys, this is a circular pinch it is NOT the Field Reversed configuration or the Spheromak. The difference is, this is not self-generated plasma structure. Both the spheromak and the FRC are self-generated plasma structures, built of their own internal plasma currents. This pinch is created using external magnets; it is also a pinch; albeit a circular one. WikiHelper2134 (talk) 16:53, 30 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
