edit@HaEr48: My main purpose was to identify the period in which the resettlement policy was active. If readers who never heard of the Neo-Assyrian Empire stumbled across this article, they would be confused.
I got the reign of Ashur-dan II as the starting point from the chart displayed behind Radner in her video Focus on Population Management (here). The chart (originally by Oded) lists the rulers from Ashur-dan II to Ashurbanipal. Since Ashur-dan II is the first ruler listed, I therefore take the reign of Ashur-dan II as the starting point of deportations, at least so far as Radner and Oded are concerned.
How about one of us inserts the following inline citation:
- "In the three centuries starting with the reign of Ashur-dan II (934-912 BCE),[1] the Neo-Assyrian Empire practiced a policy of resettlement..."?
References
- ^ Radner 2012, The chart behind Radner says that the first ruler that applies to this policy was Ashur-dan II.
Whether we reinsert my two references to the reign dates is up to you. --RoyGoldsmith (talk) 15:05, 2 June 2018 (UTC)
- @RoyGoldsmith: Ah, thanks for providing references. I added it this way, is that okay with you? I agree that it's helpful for readers to roughly locate when the events of this article happened. IMO, we don't need to add citation for the reign dates, unless it is somehow controversial or challenged. HaEr48 (talk) 06:33, 3 June 2018 (UTC)
