According to the affixed display at Bradgate Park, the 'Pedigree of Grey of Groby' indicates that Joan Astley was not the wife of Reginald Grey, 3rd Baron Grey of Ruthyn. Instead, the plaque clearly indicates that Joan Astley was the second wife of Reginald's son, Sir John Grey KG. The display also indicates that Sir John Grey KG and Joan Astley were the parents of Sir Edward Grey, 6th Baron Ferres (by right of his wife, Elizabeth De Ferres, 6th Baroness de Ferres) of Groby). I took a photo of the Pedigree of Grey of Groby on one of my visits to Bradgate Park, Leicesterdhire, England. Where the plaque is displayed within the ruins of Bradgate Hall. I have added the photo to the commons, and you can now see it on the Bradgate Park page. Cheers,Randallratzancestry (talk) 22:25, 4 March 2022 (UTC)S.M. Randall-Friday of randall.ratz.ancestryReply

The information on this plaque seems to be mistaken. The Complete Peerage by Cokayne (as sourced in this article) claims Joan Astley as the second wife of Reginald Grey, 3rd Baron Grey of Ruthyn. This bookwork is deemed to be an authority on the genealogy of English nobility. Also, John Grey's wife Constance Holland lived until the year 1437. This leaves no room for a second marriage to Joan Astley in the 1410's. Especially considering that Edward Grey, 6th Baron Ferrers of Groby (son of Joan Astley) and Edmund Grey, 1st Earl of Kent (son of Constance Holland) were born around the same time. 82.173.46.33 (talk) 17:07, 14 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
