In professional audio there are "Reference Monitors" which are speakers used in studio environments. They are called "reference" because they produce extremely accurate sounds. The term "monitor" in sound is often used interchangably with "speaker." --Jeffrey Sharkey 23:31, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
