"Harvard on the Hill" edit

I have reverted this article to remove the following, added by an anonymous user:

Other names include The University of Branchburg, Harvard on the Hill, North Branch University, and The University of Liberal Arts at North Branch. This is the college for the ultimate under acheiver and is especially known for it's extensive Greek life and on campus liquor control.

I suspect that every county college, community college or other 2-year school in New Jersey (and probably the entire country) has been given these sorts of mocking nicknames, Harvard on the Hill, Harvard on the Highway, etc. etc. or some version of "University" to emphasize the fact that the school is not, well, a University. It has no place in an encyclopedia article. As for the second sentence, I am not sure what it is supposed to mean. If it is supposed to mean that students who are able to attend Harvard, Princeton (or "even" Rutgers) generally will not choose RVCC or any other 2-school, well, yeah, but I think everybody understands that and, again, it is not "encyclopedic." Just a question for the person who did this, did you go to Harvard, or Princeton? If so, why are you worried about some 2-year school in the suburbs? If not, then what kind of jokes could we make about where you went? Hmmm? Neutron 20:36, 28 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

I go to RVCC, the person who put in the "Harvard on the Hill" bit is entitled to place that in the article because its a common nickname for the college by the students and alumni as well as locals. The "college for the ultimate under acheiver " bit is going too far and doesnt belong. Phnx2ashes 02:09, 10 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Some want support for the "Harvard on the hill" nickname... it is a NICKNAME meaning that the public calls it that. it is not in some book, but it is in local pop culture and you can see this if you search harvard on the hill with RVCC and you can count how many people call it that. an example search is: http://www.google.com/search?hs=UHk&hl=en&lr=&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=%22harvard+on+the+hill%22+rvcc&btnG=Search

I removed the "Harvard on the Hill" reference, again. Every 14 months or so, I guess. It may be a nickname but it is not notable. When I lived in Morris County the high school and college-age kids there called Morris County College "Harvard on the Highway." I suspect that every county or community college in New Jersey has a similar nickname among students. And yes, I see the Google references, at least the first few seem to be Myspace pages (not notable) or a dictionary that is anonymously edited. On the same theory that Wikipedia itself is not a reliable source, Urbandictionary.com would not seem to be one either. The point is, yes, kids and some others call it that, but teenage and young-adult put-downs are not the stuff of encyclopedia articles. Neutron 22:10, 30 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
I did a quick newspaper & media search and did not find any references with both "harvard on the hill" and (raritan OR RVCC) in them. FYI. --Tomwsulcer (talk) 21:10, 27 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
