After discussing it at talk:flight controller, it has been concluded that a Range Safety Officer is not a flight controller, therefore the redirect to flight controller has been reverted. I’ve also merged some info that used to be in the flight controller article and some that emerged during the discussion. Jaksmata 15:44, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Article needs to be expanded
editNASA aren't the only folks with "RSOs" that do this exact same job... if your in any federal agency that plays with guns or explosives or what have you, then youve had range security officers before. RSOs are present on any range from 9mm pistols to tanks to c4. Different training standards apply, obviously, but if you work for the feds there is an RSO present essentailly any time your doing something that goes "boom" in training. --Earthpig 10:57, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- This article is intended specifically to be about RSOs in the field of rocketry. If you want to write another article about other types of RSOs, and put a disambiguation link here, I think that would be a very good idea. MLilburne 09:59, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
RSOs and the SR-71 Blackhawk
editI've found a source that says the spy plane SR-71 had RSO's servicing it. Is this an Acronym for something else or do they mean Range Safety Officers?
