Difference between them?
editIts good that someone put up fat or water soluble, or where its popular. Additionally though, someone should include information about them so that someone interested in purchasing them can decide on which one. Personally, I don't care how soluble it is, I want to know which one has any scientific proof. So if anybody wants to include some of that it would be great. I have only looked up piracetam myself and it doesn't seem like it has a solid scientific backing. Rjkd12 20:48, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Rolipram a racetam?
editCould rolipram be added as a racetam, as it contains the pyrrolidine ring, and is arguably a nootropic. --Mark PEA 23:09, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
. Daiichi verkauft. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.161.46.25 (talk) 12:14, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
I added nicoracetam to the list of racetams. If I get more time, I'll make a wiki for it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.203.14.127 (talk) 00:09, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Should we use this page to include all of the known racetams as part of a comprehensive list, rather than a list of examples? Somethingstranger (talk) 04:58, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
Recent legal developments
editRecently all racetams have been difficult to acquire. Are they being scheduled or banned? 69.158.156.139 (talk) 16:46, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Looks like one can buy MANY kinds of racetams in Estonia: http://ravimiregister.ravimiamet.ee/en/default.aspx?pv=Andmed.Ravimid If the products are actually sold at pharmacies in Estonia. If anyone visits a medical doctor in Tallinn in Estonia, let us know if it is possible to get a prescription. ee1518 (talk) 12:03, 21 November 2017 (UTC)
Racetam not an official term?
editMy psychiatrist noted that "racetam" isn't actually used as a term in the medical field but that its an unofficial term coined by the nootropic community instead. I checked all the sources on this page and none of them seems to mention the term "racetam" in their abstracts. If racetam isn't an official term the wiki page should reflect that, especially considering how widely used it is.2003:CB:A728:4900:94E7:EF78:51EA:B404 (talk) 15:42, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
- Your psychiatrist has it backwards. 'Nootropic' is an informal term that is not as frequently employed within pharmacology as the term racetam, which is a defined class of drugs. The first citation in the article, the abstract regarding pyrrolidone derivatives, has 95 references itself; 92 of those references use the term 'racetam' in their title, four refer to 'nootropics' along with the names of assorted racetams in the title, and only two use 'nootropic' alone. While a count of words in references associated with a citation isn't really a reliable 'source', it is reliable in the sense of informal/colloquial use as opposed to use in peer-reviewed science journals. cheers. anastrophe, an editor he is. 20:30, 8 October 2024 (UTC)
