Fairly New

I'm still fairly new to Wikipedia, I added a section with a book citing though i don't know how to add it as a reference. Help would be appreciated. (Practical Idealism, Wien/Leipzig 1925, page 20). Thanks Coolguy1368 11:11, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Huh?

Can anyone explain a little more clearly what the statements under "Criticism" mean?? Noclevername 04:41, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Follow the link to that TIME article and see what you can make of it. Sorry for the later response. Coolguy1368 02:24, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

FAC Potential?

Just asking. I know that this article is not even close, but I am asking if this article has the potentiality to become a FAC (Feature Article Candidate)?Coolguy1368 21:11, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Doubt it. In a world that has people like the above "White Nations" guy in it, anything race-based will be too controversial to stay untampered-with long enough to get featured. But don't stop trying! -- Noclevername 02:01, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Mixed Celebrities?

What is the point of this section? I could see if all these people were part black, white, Cherokee, Chinese, Indian, Iranian and Pakistani but what does Rob Shneider being 1/4 Filipino have to do with the "Race of the Future"?

I'm not sure, I think it's supposed to show that multi-race people are more socially accepted than in the past; or maybe it's just that everything these days has to have celebrities involved somehow. Noclevername 10:32, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Blondes

Can anyone find a reference to use for the former part of this statement? What cultures have considered people with blonde hair and blue eyes as mixed race? As far as I know, blonde hair and blue eyes are extremely rare in mixed race peoples, due to the recessive nature of such characteristics.

"In some parts of the world, the recessive charactaristics of Blonde hair and blue eyes have been regarded in popular culture as signs of that an individual is of mixed race but in some cultures (notably that of Nazi Germany) they have been seen as a sign of racial purity."

I would assume that a jew or southern Italian with blonde hair or blue eyes would be assumed to be mixed.

This whole article is copy-n-pasted from miscegenation. 68.166.64.224 12:28, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

  • I assume that refers to non-white races, such as blacks and Amerindians. If a black person or Amerindian person has blond hair or blue eyes, and is not an albino, he's usually assumed to have some European background and therefore to be mixed race. Grandpafootsoldier 22:44, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Trivia Removed

I took off the pop culture section. I for one am getting tired of reading about South Park's take on every topic. As for the Doors' opinion, I can't imagine that anyone cares. Steve Dufour 04:16, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

The Doors

Before the pop culture trivia section was removed, I found this interesting titbit:

The topic was the subject of frequent debate within The Doors, a Californian rock band. Keyboardist Ray Manzarek would espouse the virtues of a future unified "golden" race, while Jim Morrison lamented the dilution of individuality.

No cite for that, but I like it nonetheless.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 16:48, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Please add it to Jim Morrison's article then. (Or Manzarek's or the Doors'.)  :-) Steve Dufour 19:27, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Could be valid for Wikiquote. But citations are seriously needed first.--h i s s p a c e r e s e a r c h 00:50, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

Language of the future

Wish there was a page that would discuss what language the world will be talking in 500 years. Jidanni 04:00, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Do some research and go for it. Please leave me a note on my talk page. It sounds like an interesting topic. Steve Dufour 04:16, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't think it will be that quick for all the races to mix into one, actually I think it will take at least twice that time. But this is funny too, because South Park had an episode about humans as a race in the future and this makes me remember this episode. TeePee-20.7 (talk) 12:12, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Latinos

If you want a hint of what the human race might look like in another millenium, I think looking at latinos might give you a little sneak preview. As Latino isn't a race and alot of Latinos are multiracial. TeePee-20.7 (talk) 12:15, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Timeface.jpg

Image:Timeface.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Active eugenics for the creating the new race and its proponents

Some of the active proponents of "the race of the future"; those who support active (for examply political) measures to develop this new race should be identified in the article. For example there are people who believe and express that the creation of "new race" (and the destruction of "old races") is a right way to fight racism, or a good way to improve local genetic pool. Perhaps they do not say it so straight, because it sounds like eugenics, that is politically incorrect, but they still express that view by supporting certain political decisions. Actually in Finland some ministers have openly said they support intermixing because then people have "better" and "more diverse" genes and "less genetic diseases". Also some Finnish persons have personally told me they support cross-breeding because that will, in their opinion, end racism. This surely is not just a Finnish ideology. Also the counter-arguments should be mentioned, like the argument that is is not very rational to fight racism with eugenics, or that the creation of new race will cause a great loss of worldwide diversity and losses of local native features, and propable damage to the identity of many people. 193.65.112.51 (talk) 11:56, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

You mean we have a common ancestor in distant pre-history? That is perhaps true, but tens of thousands of years of divergence have created a richly diverse planet. Indeed, already at the dawn of civilization in Mesopotamia, the world was divided into many "races" with different genetic and physical characteristics and normally associated with distinct civilizations. Frankly, this talk of intentionally creating a "Race of the Future" seems in my mind like Nazi calls to (re-)create a "Master Race" in a different packaging. Why aren't we humans fine as we are? Why is this need? I need to look more into the ideology behind this. --Luftschiffritter5 1 (talk) 16:55, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

World less diverse except White Nations

There should be information in the article on this... The White nations of the world (Europe and their offspring -- American/Can/NZ/AUS/Argentina,etc) are becoming less White than ever with populations declining, where-as Africa, Asia, etc the populations are rising. With that said, Whites will most likely be breed out of existence (despite the fact that they gave the world the majority of the technology in the last thousand years.. where-as Africa didn't have a wheel) so there will be no "race of the future." Blacks, Asians, etc will be more numerous but Whites will be gone. Volksgeist 04:13, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

what kind of psudo-science bullsh*t is that? Seriously, that so stupid I don't even know how to respond to that. Human beings have been living together since the dawn of man, you HONESTLY think that were in any more threat of being "extinct" then back then? Wtf?! "whites gave the world the majority of the technology in in the last thousand years-where-as Africa didn't have a wheel"...Your telling me, that in the ENTIRE continent of Africa, no one had a wheel... that statment is retarded beyond words —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.250.130.215 (talkcontribs) .
You mean like China, which invented gunpowder, paper, moveable type, the compass, the loom, and cast iron centuries before Europe? Or did you mean India, where our modern mathematical system was invented, while white people were still using Roman numerals? Or perhaps the Arabs, who created modern algebra and laid the foundations of astronomy while Europe was in the Dark Ages? Or maybe you meant the internal combustion engine, based on the principles created by native Samoans? Oh, that "majority of technology" of the last thousand years. Pale-as-a-ghost Noclevername 20:37, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Sure, the Chinese invented many things independently from Europeans. But Europeans have contributed to a large portion of the inventions shaping the modern world. That is a simple fact. However, I have never heard of the Samoans using outboard motors until the Europeans came along. Got any references for that? Grandpafootsoldier 22:46, 9 June 2007 (UTC)
Whatever a very selection of Europeans did in its history has nothing to do with you, so if you are implying that you should somehow receive credit from it, drop it. Rock8591 16:59, 1 September 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rock8591 (talkcontribs)
I think when it was said africa it meant SUB-SAHARAN Africa. Its irrefutable that every continent had its own advances but European creation is far more extensive than any other. If Europe had a "dark age" it was due to continous internal wars.No other continent had so much war and disease.About the image posted about how race will look like...i think it would aproximatte to something between a south-american and a Sub-saharan african. Most european genes tend to be recessive..that means blue, gree, grey eyes, fair hair, white skin. And because every race has a strong birth rate with the exception of european.

LOL. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rock8591 (talkcontribs) 05:32, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

This article assumes too much in regards to technology continuing to increase and world travel continuing to be possible. There will be no "race of the future", nor will Europeans go extinct. You do not have infinite growth on a finite planet, see Hubbert and Catton. If anything net food importing nations will be devastated, and where are they located?

This will never happen

Citations list useful for updating this article and related articles

You may find it helpful while reading or editing articles to look at a bibliography of Anthropology and Human Biology Citations, posted for the use of all Wikipedians who have occasion to edit articles on human genetics and related issues. I happen to have circulating access to a huge academic research library system at a university with an active research program in these issues (and to other academic libraries in the same large metropolitan area) and have been researching these issues sporadically since 1989. You are welcome to use these citations for your own research. You can help other Wikipedians by suggesting new sources through comments on that page. It will be extremely helpful for articles on human genetics to edit them according to the Wikipedia standards for reliable sources for medicine-related articles, as it is important to get these issues as well verified as possible. -- WeijiBaikeBianji (talk, how I edit) 19:45, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

TIME

I've been told that Time Magazine had a story or a cover story on this subject a while back. I have not been able to find it. If you find it, it will be of great help to strengthen this article to have reputable sources. Thanks. Coolguy1368 11:59 1 September 2006

So the conglomeration of all known races forms a tanned white woman? You learn something new everyday...

I think there are about 1 billion "white" people, 2 billion "yellow" people, 2 billion "red" or "brown" people, and .5 billion "black" people. So that sounds about right to me. Steve Dufour 04:18, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
BTW the lady on Time's cover seems to have mostly Asian features. I don't think she would be seen as white or European. Steve Dufour 14:59, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
There are about 1 billion blacks in the world. This is fro the afro diasporia page. Why must you minimalize blacks in such a way?YVNP (talk) 10:18, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

this one? http://www.scottlondon.com/images/timecover.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.78.90.12 (talk) 18:16, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Huh. She does look surprisingly "white" to me, like somebody from Southern Europe. (She could also be from a typical Muslim country, I suppose.) Perhaps a little Indian or like a Euro-Indian mix (e. g., Anglo-Indians of Eurasian descent).
I would've expected her to look more dark-skinned (olive at least) and more Asian too, so more like a North Indian (though East Asian admixture only seems to be present in the very north and east of South Asia, in the mountains close to the boundaries with China and Burma) or stereotypical "Latina"/Native American.
I once saw a "race transformation makeup" demonstration where a racially ambiguous woman was changed purely via makeup into a white, Asian and black-looking woman. I can't remember her original, natural appearance well, but I think she looked more "mixed" from the outset than this.
And yeah, 1 billion "white", 2(–2.5?) billion "yellow", (2.5–?)3 billion "red/brown" and 1 billion "black" sounds more correct to me, too. --Florian Blaschke (talk) 17:06, 28 August 2016 (UTC)

Hispanic

Confusion of race with language:

" In 2010 in America, 15% of new marriages were interracial, with 9% of whites, 17% of blacks, 26% of Hispanics and 28% of Asians married outside of their race. Of the 275,000 new interracial marriages in 2010, 43% were white-Hispanic, 14.4% were white-Asian, 11.9% were white-black and the rest were other combinations.[7]"

Hispanic is not a race. It is a language group. It would be like saying "12% of English people marry whites." It would not make any sense.2601:806:4301:C100:1055:8D01:49E7:716 (talk) 15:34, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

Latinos (Latino Earthlings) have different genetical statistics than non Latinos. They're culturally important due to their population, so it's natural to analyze their characteristics.
And your clever idea is not to study them? You suggest nothing. You're merely negative.
You cannot force fake data: a. sometimes we don't know the Mestizo percentages, b. some Amerindians report false data - usually a percentage of well off Mestizos report they're white (but have non white chromosomal regions and some of the falsely self-identified do carry Amerindian mtDNA).

I deleted this:

which are the sole areas in the World whose native population is being faced with an imponent flow of non-native immigrants.

There is no citation for this so I deleted it as in my experience it is not true - there is immigration into all 'rich' areas including Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, the Gulf States, Australia etc. not Just North America and Europe. filceolaire (talk) 18:22, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Places like Japan and Hong Kong have almost no immigration though. And Hong Kong is not a country. 2601:806:4301:C100:1055:8D01:49E7:716 (talk) 15:36, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

Although Brunei and the Gulf States have huge numbers of foreign workers, virtually none of them have citizenship because of draconian immigration policies that make it impossible to settle down. Hong Kong, which has a separate immigration policy from the rest of China, generally only permits immigrants from the rest of China, and if they're not from China they're other east Asians or white and highly educated. A while ago two poor Filipino women tried to abode to Hong Kong and they were denied. You could read about it here. Japan is 99.9% Asian and fiercely against blacks, Arabs, Hispanics, and Middle Easterners immigrating to their country; whites, however, are welcomed and mail-order-brides from Eastern Europe number in the thousands. The Chinese in Singapore make up over 75% of the population and they aren't native to the city-state, but most foreigners are temporarily there, with the vast majority of them being Asians, not really changing the ethnic/racial identity of the country. Wealthy and educated whites, however, are welcomed and lured in due to Singapore's status (or near status) as a tax haven. I know you didn't mention these countries, but wealthy South Korea, rising China, and well-off Malaysia are all 99.9% Asian and against non-Asian immigration, too, because only oppressive, racist, bigoted, far-right, xenophobic, hateful, Nazi, narrow-minded white countries embrace mass immigration from all parts of the world! 2602:306:32A2:C7A0:9C47:B6B:2672:B462 (talk) 04:37, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
