how can the first release in 1987 implement the ANSI C standard released about two years later? Was it based on a draft?

Upward revisions in a language generally stem from individual compiler developers and spread to others, with each of them looking over one anothers' shoulders. The primary task of the standardization process is to codify common, already-existing and de facto uses and conventions, rather than to create or impose new ones; and many of these same developers are involved in the creation of the formal standard.

QuickC vs. Microsoft C edit

In the article there should be some information about how Quick C differs from Microsoft C, which was 3-4 times as expensive. As far as i found out, Quick C was only able to compile DOS programs. While the more expensive Microsoft C version could also compile programs for Windows and OS/2. But what else was different? What about the editor, debugger and support libraries? Can anyone tell something more about that? --93.229.162.195 (talk) 06:01, 3 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
