Naming

edit

On a Google Test that I ran, "Qalqilya" garnered 236,000 hits, while the current article name, "Qalqilyah," only got 32,000 hits. Unless there is a compelling reason to keep this spelling, I think we should move it. 129.98.198.50 04:51, 10 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

To the contrary, there is absolutely no sense in the spelling "Qalqilyah". There is no "h" at the end of the city name in arabic, which is written QLQYLYA (قلقيلية) in this language. And, as you said, it does not even have the privilege to be of majority use... Jibrîl 14:11, 24 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Many scholars in the Universities (not only USA or UK) use transliterate the "ta marbutah" with an "h". --Cloj 12:17, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Map?

edit

Could this map [1] be useful in illustrating the wall that encircles Qalilya? The source for the map is given as PalDis. (Palestine Land Development Information System) 2003, could we use it here? Sorry I know next to nothing about image use on Wikipedia. RomaC (talk) 08:56, 22 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

1956 Raid

edit

I have added the causes of the raid of 1956, because without them the information is incomplete. When I first read the article I didn't understand it without this background information. I had to search for it elsewhere, and I copied the information provided in the Wikipedia article "Reprisal operations". Therefore I think it is justified to keep this piece of information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dukeofalba (talkcontribs) 19:05, 11 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

If it isn't in the source given, then you cannot add it. And anyway, pr :WP:ARBPIA3, you should not edit the article. You are free to suggest sourced addition here on the talk page, Huldra (talk) 20:23, 14 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

The previous reference was a book citing Dayan's book, therefore a secondary source. I have gone to the original source, i.e. Dayan's memoirs, to verify the citation and, as I suspected, it was completely misinterpreted. It is logically more correct to refer to the original source. I have added the complete reference for verification. Anyone who does not agree with this should cite a different reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dukeofalba (talkcontribs) 20:45, 14 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please read WP:RS. Dayan was a soldier and a participant, that is: a primary source. Morris is a historian, that is: a secondary source. On Wikipedia secondary sources "trumps" primary sources any day, Huldra (talk) 21:02, 14 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Eight "External links" is far too many. Hid all but two so someone can cull or integrate into the article. Otr500 (talk) 01:23, 25 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

Lock the article

edit

I accidentally edited the article even though according to the rules I'm not allowed. Maybe, someone can lock it to avoid confusion? Shoogiboogi (talk) 20:40, 22 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

State of location is Palestine?

edit

Why does it say that the location state is named Palestine? I don’t think there is such a thing as a state of Palestine? 2601:19B:4080:EC0:C5B9:D709:EF7F:D492 (talk) 01:18, 23 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
