europe-wide survey
editYou need to register to get the full article, but the abstract is here:
A dependent media article about the scientific article is here:
quote from waleslonline: "The study involved almost 190,000 teenagers - aged 13 and 14 - from 21 countries." What i find impressive from the results (click and read!) is that "These consistent associations were not found with other atopic diseases and were independent of the influence of altitude, climate, and GDP per capita." which makes it sound like it's something very specific and independent of things like exposure to tobacco-smoke or general hygiene levels etc.
TODO ("to do")
editStuff to be added/integrated:
outdoor pools too :(
editSeems like
are not necessarily much better than indoor pools! Anyway, this is also info to be integrated. Boud (talk) 22:11, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
opinion on wider social health implications
editSince we wikipedians don't want to publish original research in wikipedia articles, here are some socio-political-public health organisation opinions by Alfred Bernard on the social health implications of the evidence available up to some time in 2007, which is earlier than the article with the results for outdoor pools. So we can summarise Bernard's opinions without being accused of OR. :) Boud (talk) 22:15, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
