I noticed that Paul Newman is the first citation in "Modern Philanthropy". There were earlier notable contributions emerging out of the robber baron era like Rockerfeller, Carnegie and others. Their approach to philanthropy more closely resembles today's "venture philanthropy" - like Gates and Buffet, then what is essentially Newman's Own which is closed linked to "cause marketing". The "Modern philanthropists" section includes 6 references to the Perelman name. This section's second paragraph doesn't represent a broad enough range of notable modern philanthropists. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JimSinclairSTL (talkcontribs) 14:40, 30 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Modern philanthropy by individuals in the United States. You left out Chuck Feeney who gave away 8 billion dollars and inspired Gates and Buffet to create the Giving Pledge. How could you possibly have omitted Mr.Feeney from your report??? 184.153.50.230 (talk) 04:13, 25 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
