[No] Crusader castle at île de Graye[?]
editIf the Crusaders did not build the castle on île de Graye, what is the citadel that Saladin reconstructed in 1170?2A02:1810:8C10:D400:C097:F05:CA14:2857 (talk) 12:50, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
- Have just added 2 clarify/dubious tags, one with the same question.
- "In December 1170, Saladin conquered the island and reconstructed the citadel."
- If there is no evidence for a Crusader castle, what "citadel" did he rebuild, and whom did he have to conquer it from?
- "By the time of the 13th century, when the pilgrim Thietmar passed the island in 1217, the entire place was inhabited by a fishing village and populated by Muslims and captive."
- Missing letters & words? Captives, captive Europeans...? Or an exceedingly brief wording, as for Thietmar any place held by Muslims was "captive"? If the latter: it must be formulated differently, including by cutting down the excessive 'and's. Arminden (talk) 21:13, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
Solved, I think, as far as current research goes. Waiting for new digs for more answers. ....... ... and wait he did :)) Arminden (talk) 17:27, 1 October 2021 (UTC)
