How does this "neighborhood" have 5 times as much content as any of the real suburbs in Melbourne? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 157.211.207.226 (talk) 12:43, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

This suburb doesn't exist. edit

This suburb doesn't exist.

i live in Parkdale (about one kilometer away) and i have never heard of it. i found this page while looking up info on the mordialloc bridge and had a good laugh at this article. i think it needs to be deleted.

Michael, it's an old name for a small part of Cheltenham, roughly between Park and Bay roads and between Jack road and the railway line. It appears in older street directories and in the index of localities of the Melway. I doubt very many people even living there have heard the name. Note Pennydale park is named after Pennydale. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.63.58.240 (talk) 07:45, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

This now looks like it has been abandoned https://yoursay.bayside.vic.gov.au/managing-growth-in-cheltenham — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adric (talkcontribs) 04:56, 9 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Re above comment This looks like it has been abandoned is not correct. The formal Structure Plan put together by Bayside council with input from a Community Reference Group and input from the Pennydale Residents Action Group (Inc) was put to the Planning Minister and rejected as it did not meet the State governments desires for housing density in the area. The naming process is a separate issue that is in its final stages now with the Office of Geographic Names Victoria rejecting a request to turn the area in the SUBURB of Pennydale for a variety of reasons, but agreed to proceed with naming the are Pennydale as a NEIGHBOURHOOD of the Suburb of Cheltenham. This is expect to be completed before the end of 2021.
