I
editI was wondering if anyone has some advice for me. My 6 yr old son broke his arm in Dec. 2006 and had it set. The doctor did not set it straight on and it slipped 3 times over the course of his cast changes. He also lost function in his hand due to pressure on the radial nerve. The nerve and hand function seem to be better after months of therapy. My question is about my concern for his now off-set arm. Should his arm be re-broken through surgery and have it realigned straight or should it be left to grow out on it's own? I am concerned about the pressure the angle of his arm is putting on the elbow joint and if that will cause him further problems as a teenager and adult. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
- The best advice we can give you is that Wikipedia is an extremely poor place to seek medical advice. The professionals know exactly how and why not to give specific answers to questions like this, and the typical person willing to answer a medical question here is an anonymous 17 year old who just finished tweaking an article about a videogame character. Alternatively, there are people who know a lot about this kind of problem, have practical experience with it, will even be willing to examine your son's arm and x-rays to give you individualized advice, will be willing to be held responsible for their advice, and will see your son through until it is solved. They are called pediatric orthopedic surgeons. See one. alteripse 19:10, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
