New to sections? edit
The MOS on dismbiguation pages says that we should provide as little additional info as possible. This is not a article, just a midpoint for those who have typed a partial name into the search box. Obviously I agree with Will. All anyone has to do is click the link to find the page and see if it's the guy they're looking for. It looked out of place to me before, like a way of advertising the guy or something. I don't think anyone is going to confuse this guy with any of these other people. I did a search and there are 3 pages of guys named Paulus in Wikipedia. Why aren't they all listed here? -207.172.242.187 18:15, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

- For people, include their birth and death years (when known), and only enough descriptive information that the reader can distinguish between different people with the same name.
- No explanation is necessary, as there is no possibility of confusion between John Paulus and the other people who have that last name. If they got to this page they know who they are looking for. -Will Beback 01:34, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

Paul and Paulus edit
In English, the Latin Paulus is most of the times "Paul". I think users would benefit most from a merge between the two (similar to the merge between Straus and Strauss), as they could more quickly find the person they want. I think the Paulus (surname) page could be included here? I was looking for a Paulus, General Friederich Paulus of the second world war, but didn't find him immediately here. This isn't a very long page and could stand more entries. --John Lunney 19:29, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

The page on Heidegger (which is protected) has a reference to 'Paulus' which should clearly be to St Paul (can somebody fix that?) I presume Heidegger used 'Paulus' in his original text, which I guess is clearer and more natural in German than in English. [[Phanx (talk) 22:10, 22 March 2010 (UTC)]]

I don't think so, and neither this page nor Paul has any examples of the alleged gens Paula. Lucius Aemilius Paulus had a cognomen; who had this as a nomen? Septentrionalis PMAnderson 03:21, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
