History
editChanged the date of BDU adoption from 1985 to 1981. Actually, it was October 1981 when the first BDUs were issued out, and I came through U.S. Army Basic in March 1983. At that time, they were giving out BDU tops and pants, but plain green M1965 field jackets- as the BDU field jacket was still a shortage item. It wasn't until 1985 that ALL Vietnam era greens were gone, and replaced by BDUs. In 83 and 84, you could mix some things- but not tops and bottoms. That had to be either one way or the other. Other countries
editAs the lead paragraph states that this cap is "worn by the military personnel of some countries in the field...", I've split off the History section with a Level 3 heading for each country's military, presently the USA and Israel. The banner of "expand with translation" is for content and photo illustrations. -- Deborahjay (talk) 09:17, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
