Greens Party of MozambiqueGreen Party of Mozambique – "Greens Party of Mozambique" is not the WP:COMMONNAME used to refer to this party across WP:RS, and it is also not a coherent English translation. It is extremely hard to find sources about this party that a) translate its name into English, and b) are not about closely related parties, but if you search for its acronym "PVM" you can find some. Here are various RS I found, all of which call it the "Green Party of Mozambique": 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and relatedly 6. Now, knowing that this is the typical translation, if we go back and search for "Green Party of Mozambique" we see that indeed every result appears to be about this party. The only sources that I can find that call it the "Greens Party of Mozambique" or the "The Party of Greens of Mozambique" are mirrors or copies of this page. So, that's the common name argument (bullet point 1 at Wikipedia:Moving_a_page#Reasons_for_moving_a_page) — as a separate argument under the third bullet point at WP:MV, "Greens Party of Mozambique" is not a coherent translation of the Portuguese name of this party. Specifically, "Greens Party" is not a phrase that makes sense. The Portuguese meaning is something like "the political party of people who identify as 'greens'", but while green party members can be called "the Greens" in English, "Greens" does not make sense as a modifier of "party"; in (say) Canada you might talk about the "Greens" to refer to the Green Party of Canada, but it would be incoherent to talk about the "Greens Party of Canada". It sounds like a party run by vegetables. I should note that we do have one precedent I'm aware of: the article on the party in Portugal, the Ecologist Party "The Greens" which is a translation of this same noun pt:Partido Ecologista "Os Verdes", but frankly I have trouble believing that's the common name either and probably it too is calling out for a page move, and anyhow it doesn't support the construction "greens party". Finally, there is an extremely subtle WP:PTOPIC concern here. It is important to distinguish between the "Green Party of Mozambique", which always seems to refer to this page, and the "Mozambique Green Party", which appears to be the common name of the Partido Ecologista Movimento da Terra. But when I search "Mozambican Green Party", it seems to always refer to the subject of this page, the Partido os Verdes de Moçambique/PVM. But I think that "Green Party of Mozambique" wins out over "Mozambican Green Party" as the PVM's common name. Astrophobe (talk) 21:10, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
