Looking to make additions

As extensive as this article is already, I think that I can still provide some meaningful contributions. I am looking to add some information on the effects of the mother-only parental leave, especially on the child. I will also be adding references to various arts throughout the article as I think that it will help strengthen the article as a whole. For why I chose to add to this article, you can read it at my user page. McCrowBar (talk) 04:33, 6 September 2018 (UTC)

Additions and Edits I will do in the near future

My plan is to create a new section in the Wikipedia article under “Effects of parental leave” called “Effects on gender equality”. In this new section, I intend on adding information on the effects of varying parental leave policies on gender equality; more specifically, how generous parental leave policies that take into consideration both parents affect gender equality in different countries like Germany which has a lot of studies on it. I will also move the “Gender equality” section that under “Benefits of universal, paid parental leave” to be under this new section I created because it did not provide enough substance to be a section of its own, nor did it belong to the topic it was under. — Preceding unsigned comment added by McCrowBar (talkcontribs) 16:45, 25 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi! I think you did a great job with your addition of "effects on gender equality." You present different arguments and policies well and remain neutral. I suggest that you add some more citations to some of your sentences without any sources right now. Additionally, there are small grammatically and styling errors that can be easily fixed. I recommend reading back through your section to try and catch these errors. I think something that will improve your article will be to add links to other articles. This is a great way to help readers find other topics of interest or they may come across your section this way as well. Overall, great work! Mlb13 (talk) 03:15, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

You did a great job working on the "effects on gender equality" section. I am impressed by how many countries you found information for, and I think you did an awesome job organizing them within the section. There are a few minor grammatical errors, which are not too big of a worry. I would suggest adding some links to other articles, and maybe expanding the subsections to include just a bit more information, but what you have written is great! Hey! I think that the article looks good! The organization of the article is well done, and it looks very comprehensive. I would use more references, just because it is recommended that each sentence/claim is sourced. However, I think that so far it looks good! Like the other two reviewers said, the "effects on gender equality" portion is fantastic. So far it all looks good! T.scott0513 (talk) 04:19, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Overall a great contribution to Wikipedia, McCrowbar. Nearly all of your sentences are supported by references and they present a very neutral view of the material in that they simply present data from some of these studies. I think that some of the structure of your paragraphs could be reworked however, as it seems sometime like you pull a sentence or two of material from a source and then move on to the next one. I think you can try combining some of these smaller 1-3 sentence paragraphs into larger, more substantive paragraphs that really build off of each other. Overall, a great contribution to Wikipedia!
