Mr. Peabody

edit

It is asserted in the Paradise, KY article that the town was torn down by the Tennessee Valley Authority and not Peabody Coal. Can anyone verify this? Pustelnik (talk) 23:56, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

John Prine takes all sorts of poetic liberties. Today Paradise Plant No.3 is a power generating station that stands on the former location of Paradise Ky. Also, the "abandoned old prison down by Airdrie Hill" is actually an abandoned iron works: http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM6X_Old_Airdrie_Ironworks. The song is partly a lament of the environmental impact of mining but I think it is also about nostalgia for things that we knew in childhood but are now gone forever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.193.108.99 (talk) 04:33, 29 December 2011 (UTC) "nostalgia for things that we knew in childhood but are now gone forever" Like My_City_Was_Gone by The Pretenders — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.201.143.69 (talk) 19:45, 28 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
