GRAU or VMF designation?

edit

There was a change a while ago which changed the preamble from "VMF designation 4K66" to "GRAU designation 4K66". These are very different organisations, with the VMF being shorthand for the Soviet Navy, and GRAU being a historical organisation of the Soviet Union, and currently operating as an element of the modern Russian Federation.

It stands to reason then that, as this was an anti-ship missile ostensibly developed and operated within the VMF, that it should have a designation from the VMF.

If it happens that the historical VMF designation and contemporary GRAU designation are the same, then I guess this is a moot point.

On another note, page requires at least one western source.

The page:https://en.missilery.info/missile/ametis seems to cite some good sources, which should be investigated.

Unification of Russian Wikipedia & English Wikipedia Versions

edit

[1] Russian Wikipedia version of this page is far more comprehensively researched and described than the current English Wikipedia version. Efforts should be made to unify sources and material from the Russian Wikipedia page on the English Wikipedia page. Valrosss (talk) 01:38, 17 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
