Overberg Toetsbaan

edit

You are correct, it is officialy named "Overberg Toetsbaan". Toetsbaan is the Afrikaans word for "test range". Overberg is the name of the region where it is located. I didn't know how to change the name of the article. --Oom_Kosie

Thanks for the response, Oom. I've now renamed it accordingly. (Confusingly, the link for the rename function is named "Move".)--A bit iffy 08:55, 22 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Overburg Toetsbaan

edit

From User:Oom Kosie's last edit, I'm thinking whether a more correct name for the article would be "Overburg Toetsbaan". This seems to be born out by cursory Googling - it looks like that's the official name. If no one disagrees, I'll go ahead and rename it.--A bit iffy 08:26, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Toetsbaan

What's the best translation of "toetsbaan"? Is it "test range"?--A bit iffy 08:26, 14 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

This name should not have been changed, "toetsbaan" is simply Afrikaans for "test range" and it most certainly would have had two official names prior to 1994 (when SA had two official languages: English and Afrikaans). Wikipedia naming conventions call for the English version to be used. --Deon Steyn 07:01, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
Y Done. I have renamed the page, restoring the correct version (English, not Afrikaans) according to Wikipedia:Naming conventions (use English). --Deon Steyn 07:13, 23 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
