Misnamed? edit

What does "three main points of light misnamed stars" mean? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.159.112.119 (talk) 17:59, 12 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

There are six stars in Orion's Belt not three. Numerous reference articles and papers refer to the six stars as three stars. From the naked eye Orion's belt appears to have only three stars but that is not true. It should be correctly noted in layman's terms as three points of light.
This article contradicts itself. It says "three stars" then goes further to admit one star is actually three stars and another is actually two stars which totals to six stars. 2600:8805:B11:5600:4C6D:96D8:656F:6C8 (talk) 23:26, 21 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
In an article published at Space.com written by Ed Brown and last updated 10MAR2023 there may be as many as eight(8) stars in Orion's Belt. Mr. Brown uses data from NASA and the site credits Affelio Wibisono, Astronomy education official at Royal Observatory, Greenwich, England and Robert Massey, Deputy Executive Director at Royal Astronomical Society, U.K. as assisting in the article. 2600:8805:B11:5600:4C6D:96D8:656F:6C8 (talk) 10:00, 22 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Collinder 70 edit

I was hoping to find some mention here about this cluster/association, seeing as it encompasses the three stars of Orion's Belt (according to most sources). A quick internet search reveals some conflicing information about this group. --Lasunncty (talk) 08:30, 29 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Distances between Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka? edit

Specification of the noted distances in minutes and seconds of arc would seem to be pretty basic to this article but, after skimming it, I don't find them. I suppose one of us could calculate it manually from a sufficiently precise star atlas, though it might be best to quote a published calculation from an authoritative source; what are the chances of that happening?BLZebubba (talk) 16:57, 29 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Men in black movie reference edit

What? No mention of the movie reference from MIB Men in Black, Orion's belt. As in the jewelry on the cat's neck, which was an entire galaxy, in a jewel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.251.199.47 (talk) 00:08, 29 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
