- Article length and date are good, as is neutrality. Lots of quoted poetry from sources but copyright violations are nil. QPQ complete. Referencing in the article is good, and the hook is supported and correctly formatted. The first hook is my preference as it is catchier with its opposites of death and life. One could even tuck more words into the piped link to make "the life of Mr. Crashaw" to emphasize the opposites. Binksternet (talk) 18:13, 16 September 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I think both of these hooks fit into the "very obvious" category and are therefore uninteresting. IMO a better hook needs to be found. Gatoclass (talk) 05:28, 17 September 2020 (UTC)
- Sorry, but who's the reviewer here? Kingoflettuce (talk) 05:02, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- There isn't just one reviewer at DYK, that's how they do things at GAN but not here. Hooks and promotions at DYK are generally approved by consensus, and if somebody has an objection to a hook or article, those objections must be resolved before promotion. But if you think your hooks are of an acceptable standard, you are welcome to take your case to WT:DYK for wider scrutiny. Gatoclass (talk) 07:56, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- I'd spend time addressing more substantial issues, for example if you had a problem with the referencing. On the other hand this feels pretty tedious to me. You are more than welcome to suggest your own ALTs but if it's just going to be blather than I think currently both myself and the original reviewer feel the original hooks are acceptable. That sounds like consensus to me, at least compared to your lone opinion. Thanks! Kingoflettuce (talk) 09:13, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

- ALT2: * ... that "On the Death of Mr. Crashaw", an elegy for Richard Crashaw, is considered one of Abraham Cowley's finest poems? Gatoclass (talk) 10:47, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks, constructive! @Binksternet: if you'd like to reconsider Kingoflettuce (talk) 11:01, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- Sure thing! ALT2 looks great. Binksternet (talk) 15:23, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
