Sports History/Ring of Honor edit

While information in these sections does pertain to the school, a shorter summary of these sections with a link to their source material seems like it would be more appropriate for this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.227.8.52 (talk) 20:59, 1 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

While the list of championship teams likely has importance to some members of the community, it reads poorly and offers little encyclopedic value (not to mention it is unsourced). Could they be removed (or at least condensed into one section irregardless of the league the team competed in at the the time) and replaced with a more general overview of athletics linked to whatever page has this information listed?Bitnatley3 (talk) 05:31, 3 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Are sports championships listed in the Century of Excellence PDF files on the district website? If not, I am sure newspaper articles could be found to prove the more recent additions. Obviously, these same years can be found on the banners that are hung in the Northern Lehigh High School gymnasium. NLkid1993 (talk) 03:15, 20 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notable Alumni edit

To put this page in line with pages about similar subjects, a list of notable alumni (if they exist) should be included.96.227.8.52 (talk) 22:59, 1 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Done, section started.Bitnatley3 (talk) 02:58, 4 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Someone should look into this better. Renee Orin is not even remembered in the Northern Lehigh area for her talents. Perhaps we could add the sports figures mentioned in the Ring of Honor, as they have had a lasting impact on Northern Lehigh? We are working with a wide range of time; Northern Lehigh first started as Slatington in 1890.NLkid1993 (talk) 14:02, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
While every school has graduates which have had a great impact locally, it seems the general criteria for a notable alumni section (or any list of names included on any school page), is that the person is significant enough to warrant their own wiki page. No one in the ring of honor section fits that description, and since the list is well documented on the official high school site (including full biographies) it makes little sense to include them here, especially as that group expands to 30+ members in the coming years. If any of them had full pro careers and have wiki pages of their own, then I would agree that they should be included in the notable alumni section.Bitnatley3 (talk) 01:28, 7 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
I am asked for the following individuals to be added to the alumni. They were both professional baseball players. George Hennessey and Charlie Johnson (baseball). NLkid1993 (talk) 14:45, 10 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Go for it, they seem notable enough. It would be great if you had a source which confirmed they graduated from Slatington High School and listed the year they graduated so that we can try and continue to add citations to this article.Bitnatley3 (talk) 22:02, 10 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

The result of this discussion was to merge the page Slatington High School onto Northern Lehigh High School NLkid1993 (talk) 22:06, 23 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Since Slatington High School became Northern Lehigh High School, it seems that Slatington High School should redirection to Northern Lehigh High School page. There is not enough content on the Slatington High School page to warrant its continuation. Bitnatley3 (talk) 05:47, 3 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

I thoroughly agree. The information presented in the Slatington High School page should be merged with the Northern Lehigh High School page. NLkid1993 (talk) 14:00, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

We could even add the page Timeline of Slatington Schools to either the Northern Lehigh High School or School District page. Just a suggestion. NLkid1993 (talk) 14:16, 6 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
If anything, the timeline page should be removed completely. It is simply a copy of information posted on the district site. While the information is pertinent, it should be transformed to encyclopedic prose and sourced and added to the District page, not just copied and pasted.Bitnatley3 (talk) 01:38, 7 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
