Happy to review this article.
Assessment
editLead section/infobox
edit- Consider linking Anglo-Normans; Bible; Royal charter.
- The infobox does not mention Hugh, but the template Archdeacons of Huntingdon, of Huntingdon and Wisbech and of Wisbech does. Should they not agree?
Early career
edit- Link diocese of Lincoln Consider using this (or something else) as a reference for the first sentence.
- Nicholas would lose possession of the church if he either became a monk or if he was elevated to a bishopric, however. Improve the quality of the prose by combining this sentence with the previous one, e.g. ...granted a church to Nicholas to hold for life, on the condition that he would lose possession of the church if he either became a monk or if he was elevated to a bishopric.
Archdeacon
edit- Link chronicle; Hertfordshire
- Consider expanding this section using this (p.2), which refers to (and quotes) the letter of introduction sent by John of Salisbury to Nicholas de Sigillo.
- The book British Seals (pp. 155, 156) describes Nicholas' seal—but without illustrating it (see link). An image of the seal to be found in The National Archives at Kew, can be seen here. (When it's possible to go London again, I'll go and see the seal and take a photograph of it for this article, let me know if you have a 'shopping list' of similar images I can help provide for your articles!)
- I cannot access refs 5, 6 and 7 (and 8 in the next section), as I'm at home and the libraries near me are all closed. They look fine to me.
- ...and Thorney Abbey. - expland slightly to give some idea of the abbey's location? (e.g. '…and the Fens abbey at Thorney.') Similarly, I would add 'in Yorkshire' after Malton Abbey.
- Went with "and the Fens monastic house of Thorney Abbey." and took your wording on the second one. --Ealdgyth (talk) 00:50, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
Later years
edit- I'm not sure why Richard fitz Nigel is used in this article but not everywhere else (e.g. Richard FitzNeal).
- Because our article names are often not up to the usage of modern scholarship. I tend to follow the usage of the ODNB ... see Roger fitz Nigel here. --Ealdgyth (talk) 00:52, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
References
edit- Link Diana Greenway; Charles Lethbridge Kingsford.
- Shouldn't be a problem to get these done ...hopefully in the next couple of days (been REALLY busy in RL trying to get a garden set up) --Ealdgyth (talk) 13:49, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- I think that got everything. Sorry for the delay - unlike folks in cities who are probably bored out of their minds, I'm out in the middle of Wisconsin in deepest rural dairy country and am busy setting up our property for a horse and small hobby farm... we just moved last year and thus this is our first spring on the place. We're being welcomed with 4 to 8 inches of snow Sunday night... oh joys. --Ealdgyth (talk) 00:56, 11 April 2020 (UTC)
- Aaaah, I hope you're coping! I'm very much stuck at home but I am allowed to work on my allotment, and have volunteered for farm work, so my insanity is intact. I'll check over the article again tomorrow. Amitchell125 (talk) 21:56, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

Passing
editThis looks absolutely fine now, thanks for addressing the issues I have raised. Passing now. Amitchell125 (talk) 13:22, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
