Here's a thought: can we just make a list of the shows at each stage with the dates it played? There's really no point in listing the cast there, especially when most of the shows have their own pages. That would help with the page not being such an eyesore. Just scanning some Wikipedia articles on Broadway theaters, seems to me that, at most, they contain a simple bulleted list of "notable productions" consisting of a year followed by one or more wikilinked titles. For example, this list for the Eugene O'Neil Theatre. Barte (talk) 05:40, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
That's because most of those Broadway theaters have a stories century-long history. I think with a new theater like New World, we can have a comprehensive list of productions and opening/closing dates. I'm thinking an article like the American Airlines Theatre. I edited the Stage 1 section as a test, and it looks a lot better. Irvek (talk) 18:57, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Looks better. What about just giving the date span, rather than repeating "opened" & "closed"? e.g.:

As an experiment, I re-did Stage 2 using the Visual Editor's table function. Thoughts? Barte (talk) 19:56, 17 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Visually, I prefer the list - takes up less space, won't be as problematic on mobile. If we were to do the table, we'd need a fourth column for "Notes," such as the Bubble Show transferring to a different Stage; I just think stuff like that would be less problematic without a table. But I'm fine with either list or table. I like your idea above of just giving a span of dates instead of "opened/closed." Irvek (talk) 00:25, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
I'm fine with the list, as well. Was just exploring options. Barte (talk) 00:39, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Alright, reformatted the whole article. It looks SO much better now; I can actually read it. Here's a thought, though: I feel like more of these shows should have articles, especially the ones that ran for a few years (ie. Mother/Daughter/Gun, Bubble Show). Maybe a few of them do - I discovered a few articles that weren't linked here. Either way, maybe add some of these shows to the WikiProject? Irvek (talk) 16:43, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
Looks better, indeed. I converted the raw URL cites into inline. And agree that any shows with their own entry should be wikilinked and any overlooked but notable shows could have their own articles. (I'm not planning to take that on, but do think it worthwhile.) In any case, the 2010 note at the top of this section has partly been addressed. Barte (talk) 17:28, 19 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of Interest

The primary contributor to this article is NewWorldStages Wikipedia, whose name indicates they are associated with the subject of the article. This is a cut-and-dried conflict of interest. Mmyers1976 (talk) 16:35, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Listing Shows

edit

Okay, the decision to get rid of all the shows seems to me rather hasty (also, unilaterally made, which seems weird). First of all, most theatre articles have lists of shows that played their theatre (usually "notable productions," sometimes comprehensive lists). While I think it's helpful to list all the shows, there could be an argument made for only listing notable ones - ie. those that ran for X months, etc.

Also, the article should definitely be updated to reflect the current shows playing at the venue, that's perhaps the most relevant piece of info to anyone looking up NW Stages. Thoughts? Irvek (talk) 18:12, 5 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

I agree that the list should be restored, and updated; this is an encyclopedia, and the list gives the interested reader a good impression of the theatre's artistic direction. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 04:13, 6 June 2017 (UTC)Reply
