Mr. Bennet's Occupation. edit

"His occupation is given to be that of an attorney." No, it is not. No where in the novel does it indicate, muchless state that Mr. Bennet is an attorney. In fact, the book indicates both directly and indirectly, that Mr. Bennet is a "landed gentleman." That is, he derives his income from hereditary ownership of his small estate, by either leasing the land to tenant farmers or farming it himself. He is shown with no other occupation in the novel.
