Talk:Morpheus (software)

Latest comment: 6 years ago by InternetArchiveBot in topic External links modified

Well, the thing about Neo Network is entirely copied from http://www.neonetwork.com/ Isn't that a problem?

what is rom in the morpheus p2p choice tab?

GPL? I don't think Morpheus is currently released under the GPL, they do use the GnucDNA core for G2/Gnutella so that would be distributed under the LGPL, but the main part of Morpheus is closed source the last time I checked. -Mtekk 14:14, 7 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

"The current version of Morpheus, version 5.2.1 does NOT install adware or spyware to your computer, but it does install some Desktop shortcuts to adware websites. When Morpheus is open and running, the interface is cluttered with online ads, because adware is still present in the current versions."

Isn't this a contradiction? The first setence says that there is no adware but the second says that there is. If someone knows the facts, could they correct the paragraph? --82.45.4.239 22:23, 14 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Circumvention instructions in the Adware section!

edit

The Adware section of this page contains instructions on how to circumvent the adware built into Morpheus. This is an attack surface under the DMCA, so it should probably be removed. --NetRolller 3D 18:30, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please explain what the DMCA has to do with this. --82.141.48.74 10:41, 23 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't see this as a DMCA issue, but I still think the section should be removed. The information about using the HOSTS file to block ads isn't really relevant to an encyclopedic discussion of the software. The information provided is a general method to redirect DNS requests to localhost, and has nothing to do with Morhpeus. Unless anyone can come up with a reason why this section is relevant to the page, I'm going to go ahead and wipe it. 'Shoe' McCartt 18:13, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Trojans

edit

I deleted the section that claimed "The new versions of Morpheus do in fact contact Trojans, aside from spyware and adware." If there are some specific pieces of software that are bundled with Morpheus that could be construed as trojans, feel free to re-add the section with specific details. As it was, the section was unsourced, and didn't really belong in the article. 'Shoe' McCartt 18:17, 5 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Somebody repeatedly adds the above sentence when it is obviously unsourced, luckily, it is soon deleted afterwords. Highcount. 16:32, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Top morpheus m.jpg

edit

Image:Top morpheus m.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

"History" section needs work

edit

The history should include a beginning, not just the end. This information should be fairly easy to access. Vcrs (talk) 03:35, 17 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
