Regarding the Population, I think Eckley and Perry copied this data from Howe. Howe notes the population of the whole of Ross (sic) Township in 1840 as 1593,and 1195 in 1880, the same as for the supposed Morges population. Howe, Henry (1907). Historical Collections of Ohio, The Ohio Centennial Edition. The State of Ohio. p. 359.

It seems likely someone made an error along the way, as Morges was never big enough to have more than a few dozen residents.
