👏 edit

This emoji shows a high five (note the thumbs in opposite directions) and should be linked to the according article, not "applause". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Formicula (talkcontribs) 18:22, 31 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

Chrome and Emoji edit

At the time of writing Chrome has trouble displaying the characters on this page. There are several Chromium bugs that discuss this - emoji support for windows 8, Emoji does not display in webpage contents on OS X Lion+.

Tooltip considerations edit

When mousing over the glyphs themselves, the tooltip is the same as the glyph, which is not very useful.

However, the tooltip associated with the table cell padding surrounding the glyph is much more informative. It would be neat if these tooltips were also available when mousing over the actual glyphs.

An alternate presentation that shows the glyph next to its text description would be the ideal solution, although visually messier. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.218.210.27 (talk) 09:47, 26 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

The tooltips are there but are overridden by the links. If the characters weren't individually linked to articles you would see the tooltip by hovering over the character. With the characters linked, you just see the link without the tooltip. I don't know if there's a way to change this behavior short of removing the links.
