Has anyone heard whether the famous short story "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", by James Thurber, was an influence on the writing of this episode? Another similar story, which I suspect may have been influnced by Mitty or this TZ episode, is the episode "Hollow Pursuits" from Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Robert Duvall's performance edit

Performances in series television -- even anthologies like "The Twilight Zone" -- are rarely singled out for praise. But Duvall's performance is of a quality one would expect from a feature film. It is significant that the character is distant and wholly unsympathetic, not the way one would expect the protagonist of such a story to be played. But it reveeals just how unable he is to get along in this world.

I'll try to find a review of his performance so that it can be added to the article. This is yet another example of how the restriction on "original research" can be limiting. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 21:38, 10 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

It appears someone took my suggestion and added references to favorable reviews. Thanks! WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 13:07, 15 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Citing reviews from fans? edit

Although I agree with the interpretation of his performance, I am not a professional critic and would not expect my review to be cited in this article. Likewise, with the aforementioned reviews (posted by fans, and not necessarily peers), they ought not to be cited, as they are not authoritative critiques by professional film or television critics. If they are to remain, then why not cite links to discussions on other forums? Again, while I agree on substance, I think we know these are not acceptable sources. They should be removed until actual literary sources can be cited. --69.124.112.126 (talk) 06:50, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Harpsichord music composer? edit

Does anyone know who composed the harpsichord music in this episode? 95.172.233.137 (talk) 00:20, 11 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

I also have wondered what the little doll like young woman was playing on the piano. I've heard it before and have always wondered what that song is but don't know. It sounds like it could possibly be in the Public Domain. Let's add it to the article if we can find out what the song is the miniature young woman plays, as well as the composer. 63.248.183.81 (talk) 06:19, 30 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
