Mall Rank edit

I changed the mall from being 5th largest to being 12th largest. There is conflicting information online as to the number of stores and square footage of the mall. Sources that claim the mall is 5th or 4th largest say it has 241 stores. Sources that say it is 12th largest say it has 171 stores such as http://www.easternct.edu/depts/amerst/MallsLarge.htm The mall web site itself http://www.millcreekmall.net/store/index.ch2 claims 175 stores, so I believe the sources that says it is 12th largest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.180.215.249 (talkcontribs) 03:41 (UTC), February 14, 2008

The Mall's Directory listing located at http://www.millcreekmall.net/store/malldirectory.ch2 lists 225 stores. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.74.121.86 (talk) 15:38, 22 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Store listing removed edit

I removed the store listing from this page for two reasons: Wikipedia is NOT a directory, and there's already a store listing on the mall's webpage anyway. TenPoundHammer 03:04, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is it really a directory when no contact information for the stores are given? I think it's fine to let the store names remain. A directory would involve contact information. --Write On 1983 03:59, 15 March 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's still not supposed to be here. It's too trivial to list every single store. Besides, this page links to the mall's official website, which has a store directory right on it. If you want to find out what stores are in the mall (since stores are always changing), then go to the mall's website for THEIR directory. A store listing on Wikipedia would be unencyclopedic. upcoming renovations edit

Does anybody here know enough about the renovations to write an entry? I certainly don't. 4.239.249.156 (talk) 21:26, 18 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Try looking here. --Dtbohrertalkcontribs 02:29, 19 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

new name edit

On the Millcreek Mall's website it shows a new logo calling it millcreek mall complex as well as pictures of it's upcoming renevation.Waluigi300 (talk) 21:03, 6 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I really think that "Complex" should dropped from the article title. According to one of the naming conventions (WP:COMMONNAME), the name that most commonly is used or would most likely be searched to find the article should be title. Not always the official or formal name. --Dtbohrertalkcontribs 12:21, 7 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pictures edit

This article really needs pictures. I mean come on, it's one of the largest malls in the country Waluigi300 (talk) 23:31, 8 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'll see what I can do. I'd put up an aerial photo but it isn't that great. It was taken at a side angle and from the south (making it hard to see that it is gun-shaped). --Dtbohrertalkcontribs 02:26, 9 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I too wish there was more pictures. I grew up here & never knew it looked like a gun. If someone more familiar with Wikipedia wanted to add 42° 4'9.43"N 80° 5'56.52"W as the location of the mall then that link would point to google maps google earth & mapquest with areal & satellite photos (Don't live here anymore so it will take a while for an original pic. (I am planning a visit soon, maybe even move back)I will try to add those coordinates myself, but I have never done that before. infocop411 (talk) 21:39, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mall shaped like a gun edit

I would like to propose that the following section that was removed, based on "poorly sourced trivia", be added back:

In 2005, a student at Mercyhurst College created a song titled "Erie, Pa.," which contained the lyrics "Plus the Millcreek Mall is so much fun / It's kind of funny how it's shaped like a gun." This refers to a long-running, but unconfirmed rumor that the mall was purposely built in the shape of a pointing in the direction of downtown Erie to send the message that the mall would "kill business downtown". Another longtime but unconfirmed rumor is that, because of supposed Mafia ties, it was built in the shape of a gun pointed at city hall.

How do you reference an unconfirmed rumor, except that it does exist? It is a fact that the shape of the mall see map does bear a striking resemblance a gun, it does indeed point downtown where city hall is, as well as the fact that almost anyone who has ever lived in Erie has heard this rumor. I don't think anyone actually believes it, any more than the rumors that Cafaro has mafia ties, but this is something that makes the mall unique, especially to visitors.

I put a reference to its shape in and included a citation. It's a widespread and interesting bit of local trivia that deserves to be on the page.174.100.250.85 (talk) 21:58, 13 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
