Incoming wormholes cannot be shut down from the 'receiving' end. This has been told in at least one SG-1 episode, and it marks it in the Wikipedia article for stargates.

The stargate that establishes an outgoing wormhole determines how long the wormhole is held open, and can generally close the wormhole at will. Under some conditions, a gate only needs enough power to connect briefly, then the receiving gate can provide enough power to maintain the connection.[24] The same is true if the outgoing gate loses power while transmitting; if the incoming gate has a DHD, it will take over powering the gate until reintegration is complete.

Even if it's sci-fi, it irritates me if they ignore their own universe's rules, just for the sake of the whole 'self-destruct' craze. You could of course make the far-fetched assumption that the wraith's gate had no power source, but that seems far too unlikely for me. Ronik (talk) 11:42, 17 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

You can shut down an incoming wormhole from the dialing side with the dialing computer provided nothing is coming through the gate and this was shown onscreen. Sometime in season 9 after SG-1 comes through the gate, Landry tells Walter to shut it down and works. But you can't shut one down with the dialing computer since it has more control than a DHD add to the fact that the other times Earth was being "attacked" from offworld, a radio signal or energy signature was being sent through preventing the gate from being closed.

My guess it that they weren't actually "shutting down" the gate, more "shutting down" the macro, so it doesn't forward the last bridge gate through to Midway, either opening into space or just cancelling the whole dial. Zaphael (talk) 12:41, 23 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

New IOA Guy

edit

I believe Rob LaBelle is the new guy who replaced Richard Woolsey (Robert Picardo) but I don't know what the character name. If you are not sure who I'm talking about it's the man who Ronon Dex had his interveiw with at the end of the episode.

If it is LaBelle this continues Stargate's use of actors from other Sci-Fi shows. He was in First Wave and had small roles in Taken, Smallville and The 4400Seraph 15:57, 21 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

He's not replacing Woolsey. He's just a new addition to the IOA. His name is Mr. Coolidge.

So should we add him to the guest stars section since we now know his name and character name? ≈ Seraph 13:04, 26 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I guess so. But why was there ever a problem of his name not being known? It was stated several times in the episode.

I just didn't know the spelling really, but he's also not on this page as a guest star. ≈ Seraph 17:12, 2 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
