First paragraph and license edit
In order to edit viewed documents it is necessary to copy text to the clipboard and paste into an alternative editor.
The sentence above in the first paragraph seems to be contradictory with the license language for current wordview_en-us.exe, Microsoft Office Word Viewer (11.8169.8172) SP3.
1. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS. a. General. You may install and use any number of copies of the software on your devices. You may use the software only to view and print files created with Microsoft Office software. You may not use the software for any other purpose.
That is, we can only use the software for "view and print" and "not any other purpose", that seems to include "cut&paste". Did I read that right? --sabre23t (talk) 10:20, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
2007 version edit
Seems that it doesn`t exist, the download link says it`s 2007, but installs 2003 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.120.54.49 (talk) 09:56, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Older versions edit
The "Microsoft Software Library" on ftp.microsoft.com also included:
February 20 S15820 WD95VW71.EXE Microsoft Word Viewer Version 7.1 (Freeware)
March 24 S15819 WORDVU.TXT Microsoft Word Viewer Version 6.0 (Overview)
March 20 S15496 WORDVU.EXE Microsoft Word Viewer Version 6.0 (Freeware)
These can be found in https://archive.org/details/ftp.microsoft.com The first version and initial release date are therefore incorrect.

Also, Windows 95 CD-ROMs included what the setup program refers to as "Microsoft Word Viewer for Windows95", but the program's "About" dialog box refers to as "Microsoft Word Viewer Version 7.0". DCOShea (talk) 09:50, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
