ISO 15489
editDeleted ISO 15489 because it is not a metadata standard. Both parts of the standard refer repeatedly to metadata, but do not define it. MarcMFresko (talk) 03:45, 31 March 2010 (UTC)
Describing Archives: a Content Standard
editShould Describing Archives: a Content Standard ([1]) be included? It's used in tandem with EAD and is technically a metadata standard. But it's not a metadata encoding or structure standard. Ruthbrarian (talk)
This Page's Definition of Metadata Standard is Unclear
editIn fact, the question about DACS raises the larger point of whether this page should do some kind of disambiguation between metadata encoding/structure standards and metadata content standards.[1] MARCXML, for example, encodes metadata that should comply with the RDA standard or the older AACR2 standard. EAD documentation recommends DACS compliance. Required elements for a valid EAD XML document and required DACS elements are not a 1:1 overlap, since the former is concerned with encoding and the latter with content. Some metadata encoding standards are meant for raw metadata that doesn't have a particular standard (e.g. TEI, which is really more text encoding than metadata encoding, one can hardly call Shakespeare's works "metadata" and yet that's one of the primary TEI examples). This article makes a massive omission of not listing SDMX
editSDMX is probably the most popular metadata standard next to DDI among official statistics agencies and beyond. sdmx.org; Any objections to add it to the table and reference https://sdmx.org/ ? Gyomaigy (talk) 14:45, 2 July 2024 (UTC)
