Image:B52s mesopotamia.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Conflicting dates

I know this comment is two and a half years old, but this is a good point. The source also states that it was initially conceived as a full album, so I wonder if the insinuation is that they started the sessions in September and then "conceived" of the EP idea in October, midway through the sessions. Either that or whomever added that bit of info didn't transcribe it accurately. Hard to know without having access to the Sexton book.—The Keymaster (talk) 04:15, 15 January 2023 (UTC)

Bass guitar credits

I've flagged the "bass guitar" credits for Kate and Keith, as per my (old) discussion with Simon-holmes69. WP:PERSONNEL states that vague "bass" credits "can commonly refer to either a bass guitar or a double bass and should be named accordingly." However, in this instance, it's more likely that a third option, synth bass, was used, especially when considering the band's history and instrumentation. I'd love clarification on this, and if anyone has that information, please add it to the Personnel section with a proper citation. —The Keymaster (talk) 07:17, 28 December 2022 (UTC)

Cindy Wilson - vocal credits

Innocent question, I swear: Why is Cindy Wilson not given credit for her vocal contribution on the song "Mesopotamia?" Yes, Fred and Kate are the PRIMARY vocalists on this song, but Cindy is doing the background vocals (less obvious than Kate, but she IS there). Listen to the "No Ears Alternative Remix" from the 2006 remix EP if you don't know/don't believe me, then go back and listen to original version (as well as the 1990 remix available on a couple official CDs as well as the version of choice available on streaming services such as Spotify) and it should be REALLY obvious. Also, Cindy is present on "Throw That Beat in the Garbage Can," too, but again it's not so obvious as she is clearly the #3 vocalist on this song too, waaaay down there in the mix, but... You can hear her unmistakable voice near the very end of the original CD / cassette / vinyl (U.S. mix/release (it's found @ 4:17 on the original U.S. CD version of Mesopotamia - NOT the 1990 remix that's found on the CD version of "Party Mix" and NOT the UK vinyl/cassette release/mix... You may have to listen very closely - and turn the volume UP and use headphones if you're still having trouble hearing it, but damn it's there clear as a bell.

Also, Cindy has mentioned how she really enjoyed recording the song "Mesopotamia" in an interview. Not a sufficient reference I'm sure but I'm just really wondering what it takes for something to be taken as FACT here. I know that (generally speaking), the B's vocal credits are strongly correlated to the songwriting credits and the people who wrote the songs usually get the sing on them, but it's not that simple in reality. When it boils down to it, numbers-wise, Cindy is the band's TRUE lead vocalist - really even more amazing considering she was absent for an entire album) Outside of the "Good Stuff" album, I'm pretty damn sure the only songs she does not appear on at all are "Deep Sleep," "Housework," "Juicy Jungle," and "Detour Thru Your Mind" (am honestly not even sure about the latter)... I simply don't get it (I'm not very experienced what comes to all the rules/ways of Wikipedia, and I know things require some level of proof/reference - at the same time what kind of "proof" is there for any of the vocals credits on ANY song really (other than our ears)? @Echo1434 Well, Cindy's obviously present on all of those songs. I don't think anyone would dispute that. (I'd argue she most likely even sings harmonies on "Deep Sleep.") You are right that lead vocal credits should not be listed if they aren't specifically stated in liner notes or a reliable source. That's a common problem on Wikipedia.
