"Primary" definition edit
A mercer is originally a person in the mercery trade. All the other definitions come from that, typically as family names. There should be some way of explaining that in the dab page, even if other meanings are more common nowadays. I'm not sure the way I did it is ideal, but ignoring the connection completely also seems wrong. --Macrakis (talk) 16:48, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
