Gender bias?

When this series began, there were 12 men and 12 women. After the judges eliminated 6 women in a row, only 6 of the remaining 17 contestants are women. Just saying ... WWGB (talk) 07:20, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

Are sources commenting on this? With all these men left, they probably will string a few male eliminations now too.Nyx86 (talk) 16:09, 18 May 2021 (UTC)

Should announced successful contestants be added to article?

@TristanQuinn: I would like to gain some consensus on whether or not successful contestants announced before a series' premiere by Network 10 should be added to the article. In this edit, I added official released contestant names using reliable sources.[1][2][3] Also, 10 has released promos on some of the successful auditionees:

Per WP:SPOILER, adding this information is allowed and "it is not acceptable to delete information from an article" because it is a spoiler. I would also argue that this information is useful as it provides context and helps users to easily learn about contestants, who are the main focus of this show. Happily888 (talk) 10:53, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

We cannot add their names early because we don’t know if any of them are second chance contestants or some people we don’t know who didn’t appear in the first promo like Kyle from season 11 whom we don’t see him among the contestants who passed the first audition in the first promo and second chance contestants like Leah and Sandeep, both of whom have been revealed to be given one or two yes votes from the judges after the first episode aired. You have to wait for the first group of successful auditionees (first cooks who passed with three yes votes from recipes of their successful audition dishes) to appear from the official website after the premiere episode aired. Thank you. TristanQuinn (talk) 11:58, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
@TristanQuinn: But, this season we do know that contestants such as Brett and Therese are already successful auditionees because of the promos and media releases that Network 10 have shared prior to the first audition episodes. See here, here and here. Happily888 (talk) 00:50, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888: It doesn't matter whether the trailers tell itself that they are in the Top 24, we're not sure yet if they're successful in their first auditions or they're given a second chance to cook again. We were suppose to wait for the first group of contestants to appear in the website after the first episode aired.TristanQuinn (talk) 04:35, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
@TristanQuinn: But the contestants table doesn't itself show whether or not contestants got in on the first or second round of audition days. The results and elimination table does show this, which doesn't need to be filled. I see no reason that we can't add announced contestants to their table, seeing as we already know that are successful auditionees. Happily888 (talk) 06:32, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888: You don't get it, we can't spoil those announced contestants too early before the premiere episode, we don't know if some of them are second chance contestants just like what happened in the season 11 promos. TristanQuinn (talk) 08:49, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
@TristanQuinn: How is this too early? It's going to start next month...and per WP:SPOILER, it will be fine to add the announced contestants early. The table doesn't differentiate between succeeding in the first or second round of auditions anyways. Happily888 (talk) 01:48, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888: That's not helping just don't add their names too early, wait for the official website to reveal the first group of contestants from their recipes after the first episode. Then after the second or third episodes of the second chance auditions, add the rest of the Top 24. TristanQuinn (talk) 02:27, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
@TristanQuinn: But you've got to give other reasons for not adding names: other than vaguely stating it being "too early", using WP:SPOLER and that contestants announced could be second chance contestants, despite the table not differentiating between which round they get into the competition anyways. Happily888 (talk) 02:35, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888: You need to wait, spoiling early contestants from promos or trailers is not right you don't even know any of their surnames. It's very important to add their names after the premiere episode ends then double check the official website to reveal the first group of the top 24 contestants and that's final. TristanQuinn (talk) 02:48, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
@TristanQuinn: Hi. I have chosen to start a Request for Comments process about adding contestants. Happily888 (talk) 03:09, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

Should the announced contestants be added this article, prior to the first episode airing? Happily888 (talk) 03:10, 21 March 2021 (UTC)

  • Yes It seems worthy of inclusion in the article, can't see a reason not to. Idealigic (talk) 15:36, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
  • Yes, there isn't much to write about a yet unaired series, so yes.Nyx86 (talk) 15:30, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
  • Yes It should be included.Sea Ane (talk) 19:29, 25 March 2021 (UTC)
  • No I would like to agree with your decision but still that is just not a good thing to expose their names without knowing their last names and if they only have one or two yes votes but they've given a second chance to cook again in the next episode. It's unnecessary. TristanQuinn (talk) 07:16, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
@TristanQuinn: Could I ask how it is "unnecessary"? The contestants table (this table in series 11 and this one is series 12) don't distinguish between which round a contestant is successful in — which is where new contestants a proposed to be added. Happily888 (talk) 06:22, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888: We don't know their last names and if they passed their first audition with three yes votes from the judges or they've given a second chance with only one or two yes votes. Promos could or may not imply that they passed the first audition. We just have to input the first contestants who passed the initial audition with "three yes votes" from the judges first after the first episode aired. We cannot just input their names without their surnames or if they passed the initial audition before the premiere.TristanQuinn (talk) 09:15, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
@TristanQuinn: But this information is worthy of inclusion (and we do know many of the released contestant's last names, see this edit revision). The table doesn't distinguish between the round a contestant passes and it was confirmed in media releases that they were successful.
@Idealigic, Nyx86, and Sea Ane: Is adding contestant names prior to an episode airing "unnecessary"? Happily888 (talk) 10:37, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888: We can't just use media releases to input the names without knowing their last names and if they pass the initial audition with three yes votes and made it to the Top 24. We just have to wait for the website to reveal the first group of the Top 24 contestants from their recipes after the premiere episode.TristanQuinn (talk) 10:45, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
@Tristan Quinn: Please see edit revision. The media release was just to show that the network has confirmed them as contestants and therefore they should be added to the table. Happily888 (talk) 10:59, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888: Still, we can't add them too early. We don't know if some of them are second chance contestants in the next episode just like in season 11.TristanQuinn (talk) 11:06, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888: Even using those sources from promos, we can't determine if some of the contestants only received one or two yes votes and they'll cook again in the next episode like Leah and Sandeep from season 11 in their promos they only got one or two yes votes from the judges and they'll cook again with the other second chance contestants. TristanQuinn (talk) 11:53, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888: If you look back at the very first promo of season 11 before the contestants' individual promos, You will see how and why Leah, Sandeep and Kyle are not in the first promo before their individual appearances in the promos.TristanQuinn (talk) 12:27, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888: Also the individual promos of Huda, Tim and Jess (even though they made it to the Top 24) have not revealed in the end if they receive three yes votes from all the judges and passed the initial audition or they got one or two yes votes and they'll cook for a second chance like Leah and Sandeep. TristanQuinn (talk) 12:53, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
Well, this table will obviously need to be updated in April-May when this actually airs. But for now all we've got are the promos, which are better than nothing.Nyx86 (talk) 14:04, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
@Nyx86: Thank You, but we can't assume that they're in the Top 24 too soon. We don't know if this year's contestants in the promos have passed the first audition with three yes votes from the judges or some of them have one or two yes votes which they'll be able to cook again in the second audition.TristanQuinn (talk) 22:00, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
Also we don't also know their last names. The first group of the Top 24 (with full names) will be revealed from the recipes of their dishes they cooked in the first audition after the first episode aired. TristanQuinn (talk) 22:21, 29 March 2021 (UTC)
We can just list what's known now, and update it later once the first episode is out.Nyx86 (talk) 14:43, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
Nope we can't just list them without knowing if they have three yes votes from the judges and pass the first audition. If you already watch the previous seasons and its promos, like season 11 before the premiere, Dee Williams, who was in the first promo of half of the top 24 contestants, is revealed to be cooking for a second chance after failing her first audition. What if we made a mistake placing the names of this year's revealed contestants too early before the first episode when one or two of them revealed to be cooking for a second chance audition. It's important to just wait for the names of the first half of the top 24 from the recipes page of the official website after the first episode. thank you. TristanQuinn (talk) 15:03, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
We can't keep jumping to conlusions because the promos of the individual contestants didn't reveal if they have three yesses from the judges and pass the first audition despite them being featured already as part of the Top 24 in this year's first promo.TristanQuinn (talk) 15:07, 1 April 2021 (UTC)
@TristanQuinn and Nyx86: We aren't jumping to conclusions. By placing them in this table, we're only saying that they are contestants for 2021. It does NOT distinguish between being revealed in the first or second round, therefore adding the names in this article isn't preemptive. Happily888 (talk) 00:16, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888 and Nyx86: The first promo did reveal this year's Top 24 contestant but it doesn't reveal that any of them are second chance contestants before their individual promos. Before Season 11 premiered back in 2019, the first promo revealed half of the top 24 Huda, Tim and Jess all appeared in this promo alongside the other contestants (Tessa, Simon, Anushka, Derek, Tati, Steph and Mandy) who passed the first audition except Dee Williams who is revealed as a second chance contestant later on before the premiere episode aired. Kyle, Sandeep and Leah were not seen in the first promo before their individual appearances in their promos before the first episode aired as Kyle passed the first audition while Leah and Sandeep did not make it but they got one or two yes votes and cooked for the second audition before making it to the Top 24. What I'm trying to say is that we can't use promos or trailers as sources to reveal the names of the contestants, and now we don't know if some of this year's contestants were second chance contestants. It's important to not post their names in the table before the first episode aired. Hope this would end this discussion to avoid further arguments. TristanQuinn (talk) 01:01, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
I've seen the first promo of season 11 in 2019 several times and I have seen Tim, Huda and Jess in the Top 24 before their individual promos but it did not reveal that the judges give them all three yes votes and pass the initial audition despite the fact that the first promo and the news revealed that they are in the Top 24. That's why we can't just place the names of this year's contestants without knowing the results of their first audition. TristanQuinn (talk) 01:08, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
@TristanQuinn: No matter which round a contestant gets into the competition, they are a contestant.
I don't get why someone not getting into the competition in the first round is grounds for removing them from this table. Contestants are not just being sourced from promos, but from reliables articles and network media releases.
Unfortunately, your idea that some contestants announced might be second chance contestants just doesn't stand: the table which they would be added to doesn't distinguish between the audition round that they achieved entry into the Top 24. Happily888 (talk) 01:20, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
@Happily888: Yes they are contestants already but you got it all wrong even with those reliable articles that they're in the Top 24, the promos did not confirm that they received three yes votes from the judges. If you already watched the show, you will already know the audition process from the start. I told you several times we have to wait from the website to reveal the "official" names of the contestants after the first episode aired. TristanQuinn (talk) 01:59, 2 April 2021 (UTC)
  • Yes If a contestant is announced by as a successful auditionee on the official website (no matter how they're successful) they should be added to the article. Happily888 (talk) 01:53, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
