given at a collection

edit

If it's given at a collection, it's not a stipend but part of the offertory. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.54.207.205 (talk) 13:29, 13 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Proposed merge of Mass card into Mass stipend

edit

This covers the same topic but in a more limited scope. Both articles are sufficiently short to be merged without trouble. Elizium23 (talk) 23:22, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. They are not exactly the same topic: the stipend is the donation, while the card is the physical object. They overlap, but not fully. From the eighth to the twentieth century, Mass stipends existed but Mass cards didn't; there are also Mass cards sold (deceptively) without a Mass stipend. Length isn't a reason to merge if the article is more than a few sentences. Antony–22 (talkcontribs) 06:05, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
The card means nothing without the donation and stipend. The card represents payment of the stipend and it represents that the intention will be prayed for by that priest at that Mass. Fraud notwithstanding, we are talking about the same topic. Elizium23 (talk) 06:09, 12 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
I agree with you and I support this merger. LimonesMI (talk) 20:28, 28 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
It's not the same topic. The Mass card should be mentioned with Mass stipend and its page linked, but the card is not the stipend, nor is the stipend the card. It's perfectly possible to have a Mass intention and stipend without a corresponding Mass card. W4rd3n (talk) 16:18, 16 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Support proposals for reasons of both short text and context. Mass card is short and benefits from the context of the content on Mass stipend; that is, readers are best served by having these closely-related topics discussed in one place. Klbrain (talk) 17:08, 3 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Support the merge proposal. They aren't the same topic, but they relate to the same idea. Joyous! Noise! 03:38, 12 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Support the merge proposal. Both topics would benefit from presentation together in one article BobKilcoyne (talk) 05:09, 16 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Merger completed in light of majority opinion above. BobKilcoyne (talk) 05:25, 23 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
