Commence review edit

I will undertake this review. The article appears stable, neutral, and follows a standard pattern of route description, history, and junction list, which I will assume is the accepted approach for these articles (I have not previously reviewed such transport articles). All images appear in order; I am taking it in good faith that the creation and use of shield images does not present a copyright or trademark infringment problem.

Specific points edit

Lead edit

  • "...where it continues south as Wisconsin Avenue into Washington, north to a dead end near U.S. Route 15..." How can something continue north and south? Not sure I'm understanding this.

Montgomery County edit

  • Split the first sentence into two.
  • "...areas of retail and high-rise buildings in Friendship Heights including The Shops at Wisconsin Place that is served by the Red Line of the Washington Metro." There's something wrong here. Should this read "...areas of retail and high-rise buildings in Friendship Heights, including The Shops at Wisconsin Place, that are served by the Red Line of the Washington Metro." ?
  • "...the road intersects the eastbound direction of Maryland Route 410..." How can an intersection be with only the eastbound direction of another road. Don't all roads run in two directions, or do you mean it is a T-intersection?
    • MD 410 is on a set of one-way streets at this point. Dough4872 (talk) 02:28, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • OK, if I understand you correctly, you are saying MD355 intersects the MD410 eastbound one-way and not the westbound one-way here. If that's right, i suggest you revise to "...the road intersects Maryland Route 410 one-way eastbound..."
  • Is there a reference that says the cinema is in "near-original condition"?
  • Is there a reference that says that the church is "...an 1850 wood-frame church which gave Bethesda its name"?
  • Ditto for "...the Linden Oak, the largest white oak tree in the United States, at the Grosvenor Lane intersection". In particular, when I visited the WPpage Linden Oak, I noted it was unreferenced, but that one link in-text was to a source that suggests it is not the largest white oak.
    • I modified or removed the uncited information. Dough4872 (talk) 02:28, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • I note a lot of attention is paid to speed limits on different sections, and to intersections, but not to changes in the lanes / quality / division of the road. Is this because it remains a 6-lane divided hwy until the end of Mont. County?
    • Lane/quality/division changes are mentioned where appropriate. Dough4872 (talk) 02:28, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Frederick County edit

  • Maryland Route 355 Business - especially since this is a redlink, it needs an explanation. I have no idea what this is or means.
    • It is a designation for the former alignment of MD 355 in Urbana that was recently bypassed. I eventually plan to make a section in this article for the route when more information becomes available as it is too recent for most maps and official documents. History edit

  • When was the route first designated as MD355?
    • The exact date is unknown, so I indicated the earliest available map that shows the route. Dough4872 (talk) 02:28, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • Can anything be added to explain or outline why it is that some parts are maintained by the state and some parts not?
    • The only part not maintained by the state is through downtown Frederick. The reason for this is unknown. Dough4872 (talk) 02:28, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Other edit

  • Are there no traffic statistics available?
    • There are, in the HLR from the Maryland State Highway Administration. I previously included them in the article but was told that an excessive listing should not be included. Dough4872 (talk) 02:28, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • An excessively detailed listing may not help, but indications of traffic volumes would seem to me to be one of the key pieces of information that would go with any article about a road. I would apply this comment to all your highway articles, FWIW. hamiltonstone (talk) 02:58, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • I added the highest and lowest traffic counts for each county. Dough4872 (talk) 03:07, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
  • No mention of pedestrian areas, special designated lanes (eg public transport lanes or multiple occupancy vehicle lanes) or cycleways - are there none?

I'll check in in coming days. hamiltonstone (talk) 01:09, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the review. I have made changes to the article and replied to the above comments. Dough4872 (talk) 02:28, 22 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
