Contested deletion edit

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because festivals are legitimate encyclopedic content. I've attempted to make the article as objective and brief as possible. I'm a big fan of wiki please feel free to edit and improve this article. Let me know if I need guidance etc... thanks, Olly. --LondonLamplighter (talk) 10:14, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello Olly, there may be a useful article that could be written on Mandstock, but it needs to be done somewhat differently. First, I recommend removing anything that looks like advertising such as "activities to enjoy", "and more..." and so on. "...draws crowds from all over the world" will not do, but independently verified attendance figures would be great. In short keep it factual and neutral. Second, it does need to have references to reliable independent sources (not the festival's own literature) - what press coverage has it had? - and preferably a few external links, e.g. does the festival have an official website? A bit of history and background to put it in context would be good - why does it have that name? who created it? was there any similar event that preceded it? and so on.
There is plenty of help available - you could start by looking at Wikipedia:Your first article

I've withdrawn the deletion notice for now and I'm sure you will go on to make many successful contributions to Wikipedia: Noyster (talk), 11:10, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Noyster, I've removed promotional sounding copy. And added a couple of references to confirm the festivals existance since 2012, and the music that gets played there. I have an article which confirms attendance figures. At the moment it's just a scan of the print version (http://mandstockfestival.com/press/). I'm going to find out if there is an online version of the article. Will also see what I can do about getting some more background information and sourcing it. I've been watching some youtube videos and reading the wiki on how to write wikipedia articles and format them correctly etc... for now I would just like to get this one article properly up to date. Once I've done that I should have learned the skills to carryon providing content to Wikipedia! :D Thanks again. --LondonLamplighter (talk) 17:51, 4 June 2014 (GMT)
