Please can someone comment on this?
1. This page was created by some user called "starRahul". It looks like mostly original research. 2. There are many clans in maharashtra. Clan means nothing more than "closely connected families". There is nothing that indicates that this is only a maratha clan. It is probably true that marathas have this as a clan. But others might too. Who knows? That needs rephrasing. Also, clan is not always the same as last name. 3. Tanaji is not even mentioned in Iravati Karve's book but she is given as a citation. I browsed through her book looking for Tanaji but might have missed it. 4. Some of the books referred seem to be caste related books. 5. Someone added a citation on Tanaji Malusare. I double checked and David Hardiman does indeed say on page 103 that Tanaji was a Koli. Added a quote. 6. All over twitter and social media , Tanaji is supposed to be a Koli. In any case this page is not about Tanaji.

Personally, I could not care less what caste he belonged to. As an editor on wikipedia, my loyalty is to wikipedia not to any community or person. However, there is a movie starring Ajay Devgan that might be released next year and will draw attention to this page. If the page is inaccurate(I strongly suspect it is), it will not look good. That is why I added the "disclaimer" that it is disputed.
