Talk:Maladaptive daydreaming

Schizophrenia edit

Schizophrenia and/or psychosis are referred to several times without references, including schizophrenia being referred to as avoiding reality. I think this needs careful sourcing and I don't really see the similar between them. Amousey (they/them pronouns) (talk) 22:58, 16 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Issues edit

This article has many issues. Perhaps the most important being the lack of reliable medical sources for any of the statements made. If sources cannot be located these statements will be removed. It is not acceptable to cite newspapers for any medical facts PainProf (talk) 13:45, 18 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

I removed content that was not backed by sources. I agree that sources need to follow WP:MEDRS and unsourced material, as well as medical-related content, being removed if not properly sourced. -- Otr500 (talk) 17:08, 18 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
I have heavily neutralised it, most of the sources simply parrot an article, i.e. institution press release, to me popular press is a very unreliable source for a disorder like this. If we must have an article it needs to be abundantly clear that these are the musings of a very limited number of psychologists. PainProf (talk) 21:11, 18 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
I am currently in the process of locating more reliable medical sources for the claims made within this article. In particular, I have found one source that acknowledges the existence of cyber communities dedicated to the support of individuals believed to be suffering from maladaptive daydreaming disorder. --Blazoff (talk) 17:30, 3 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Why is source 1 listed as an unreliable medical source? It comes from the National Library of Medicine. I meant "at worst" it's a reliable psychiatric source in this case. Ofmice&men (talk) 22:48, 30 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
