editMinicoyans are Mahls.
Merge this page into the article "Dhivehi people"
editYes, Minicoyans are Mahls. Mahls is a term used to refer to the Indian Dhivehis. As Minicoyans are Indian Dhivehis the fact that they are Mahls can't be ignored by anyone. The Mahls are one among the three subgroups of Dhivehis. The other two subgroups are the main group of Maldivians as well as Dhivehis and the Southern group of Maldivians or the Suvadivians. The reason I am asking to merge this page into Dhivehi people is that, already the information in this article is present in the article Dhivehi people and it is the same over here. Like a small ethnic group such as the Dhivehi people there is not much which can be included within separate articles for subgroups. It is only the information in the article Dhivehi people which is now included here and if this article is to be expanded further the information already in the article Dhivehi people will get repeated again and again. It will be better to include any available information for the subgroup within the article Dhivehi people. If separate articles are to be written for all the three subgroups the articles will remain as Wikipedia stubs only. And only it will be the information within the article Dhivehi people which will be repeated again and again. There are not much extra information for the subgroups that separate articles can be written. The available little extra information can be included in the article Dhivehi people itself. All the subgroups of Dhivehis share the same culture, language, history and ethnicity. The minor differences are not as much as that a long article can be written. The minor differences can be outlined in the article Dhivehi people itself and doing so will be better. It will be the same information which will get repeated again and again. These are the reasons why I have to ask to merge this page into Dhivehi people. Leone (talk) 12:51, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

- Please respect others feelings also, please don't try to finish only with your opinion. Please keep Mahl people as seperate without merging with Dhivehi people, because though it is a sub group we have now lot of differences and details we have to present under this. - Dear Brother Manikfan, I do respect others feelings. That's why I waited for 20 days after presenting the matter above. But the problem is that no reply from you. I have written many times on your wall before even regarding certain matters. But still no reply those times too. I would like to express discomfort on this matter that on the first hand no one associated with these pages is co-operating with me. After 20 days when I brought the matter into effect then only you are telling that I am not respecting others feelings. I do respect brother. On the first hand if you could have told me that,I will accept for sure. The reason that I merged this page into Dhivehi people is that the current page is as it is and no additional information has been added. It seems that the page will remain as it is. Also it is the same information in the article Dhivehi people which have been repeated and is likely to be repeated again and again. Now that you are telling you will add many extra information I will say carry on. But according to Wikipedia guidelines the articles should reach a particular limit if they are regarding such matters. And the information already in one article should not be repeated. So hope you will expand the article further without repeating the same information in the article Dhivehi people.

- Thank you! Brother exactly we will follow the guidelines and will expand the article accordingly. I was unable to reply because, I was mostly away from net for few days and I didn't know there was such a discussion. Manikfan (talk) 20:08, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
