Past or present tense edit

Should the entire article be in past tense? I can see why the open is -- because the chip is no longer produced -- but it sounds odd reading the functions of the device in past tense. Those didn't cease. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.192.150.8 (talk) 12:52, 17 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

original research? edit

There seem to be a bunch of things in the article that appear to be original research (and which are not backed up by the linked data sheet). for example:

It is permissible to write to only the tenths register to "nudge" the clock into action, in which following a hardware reset, the clock will start at 1:00:00.0. is correct, but data sheet does not mention or even imply this

Due to a bug in many 6526s (see also errata below), the alarm IRQ would not always occur when the seconds component of the alarm time is exactly zero. The workaround is to set the alarm's tenths value to 0.1 seconds. and also the entire errate section should mention a source. also at least the "timer b bug" is doubtful to actually exist (in many years of VICE development no machine could be found that exhibits it) - it may be an urban legend produced by someone who simply observed a partly broken CIA.

whoever added that info might remember where he got it from and cite the sources 178.202.224.48 (talk) 23:57, 10 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

"Pseudo-rs232 errors"? edit

this phrease is used in "Errata" Is that framing errors due to missed clock pulses?

RS232 is a set of voltage levels and connector specifications. While the specification supports clocked data, most hardware uses it for asynchronous data. it's almost certainly the wrong term to use here. Jasen betts (talk) 23:55, 15 June 2014 (UTC)Reply
