when?

edit

This entry does not even state when the Lumix brand was created. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.99.193.239 (talk) 12:27, 30 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

If anybody has any information about the new TZ1, I would appreciate the feedback. Thanks!— Preceding unsigned comment added by {} (talk • contribs)

Updated Nov 7th 2006

edit

Added more to the description as well as added a Leica Model Crossover, pros and cons, and external links section. Also got rid of the Advert tag -Muteknee November 07, 2006 (PST)

Massaged the 'noise' thing.

edit

The "noise" "con" was worded a little too harshly, imo -- as if written by someone trying to put down these cameras. I've modified it so it reads more neutral -- yes, Virginia, there is noise, no, Virginia, it isn't half as bad as some people make it out to be -- as long as you're not a pixel-peeper. The bulk of the people who retch about lumix noise are 100%-viewing pixel-peepers... the real world doesn't view pictures at 100%.

The TZ1 certainly had folded optics, I'm pretty sure, however, that the latest TZ series do not have folded optics. If anyone knows for sure, please update the page as I'm pretty sure its currently inaccurate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.253.201.105 (talk) 04:19, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Venus V versus Venus HD

edit

The Venus Engine V processor appears technically to be similar to the dual-chip Venus Engine HD processor, but is being branded differently. Shall we treat is separately. I'm editing with this assumption.

CameraTechie (talk) 18:45, 6 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

As of February 12, 2009, there appears to be NO DIFFERENCE between the LSI Chipset hardware (that Panasonic Lumix is presently marketing, or will be releasing in 2009) described by the manufacturer in product implementations using the following phrases: [1] "Venus HD" in all present cases (with the following lone exception), OR [2] The DMC-FX48, where what (from all available information released by Panasonic) appears to be the same hardware processing engine is alternately referred to as "Venus V" at: http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/2024843/index.html Strong evidence for the assertion that "Venus HD" and "Venus V" are (in terms of LSI Chipset hardware) the same thing appears on the Panasonic Lumix web-page at: http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/2040572/index.html 24.18.231.127 (talk) 06:10, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

"DMC"?

edit

What does the "DMC" stand for? JIP | Talk 19:48, 10 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

(It's quite possible that the MC part refers to the Multi-coating used on all lenses). 79.69.10.75 (talk) 14:14, 28 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Excellent question. "Digital Mirrorless Camera"? Note that some models use the prefix DMC and others DC. Maikel (talk) 23:31, 2 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

FX60 and FP8 are missing

TZ18 and TZ22 are missing too

edit

On the European market the TZ18 and TZ22 are currently the newest TZ models. The difference between these seems to be that the TZ22 has a GPS receiver, so it can store the location of a photo on the EXIF data. Appears to be very similar to the ZS8/ZS10 on the American market. But I don't know what the difference between the TZ20 and TZ18/22 is. --84.119.44.177 (talk) 14:40, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Leica model crossover

edit

Cut & Paste from the page. Please clean up and reference if you care about the similarities / differences between these two brands. Hell..... I not even sure if this constitutes as libel.

Some Panasonic and Leica cameras are the same. The differences, other than the obvious exterior styling, are in the camera firmware. Different application software is also supplied by the two companies with the cameras. Claims regarding differing quality control or weatherproofing are unsubstantiated.

The Leica and Panasonic cameras produce the same RAW image, but will process white balance, noise reduction, etc. differently for JPEG output. Lumix cameras are two or three times less expensive than their Leica counterparts due to the huge difference in brand prestige. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vapes (talkcontribs) 20:10, 27 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

That's not even true! The Panasonic LX100 and the Leica DLux 109 are the same camera (with different styling) but the Leica is between 15 - 20% more expensive in European and US markets. "Lumix cameras are two to three times less expensive"?? 79.69.10.75 (talk) 14:12, 28 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Came here to learn about DMC-ZS45 aka TZ57. No information.

Category query (LX100)

edit

This camera is listed among the L series of high-end compacts, which is quite fair (it is continuing that trend). However, as it contains a Micro Four Thirds sensor, should it not also be listed in that category too?

79.69.10.75 (talk) 14:23, 28 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it would qualify as a M4/3 camera, since as far as I understand it Micro Four Thirds is a standard based around various factors such as a specified sensor size, but also lens mount and flange back distance. It also doesn't seem to carry the M4/3 logo that most M4/3 cameras have somewhere on their body, but I realise that's only a minor thing.. Robrob42 (talk) 18:15, 23 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

There's really almost no information about Lumix in this article

edit

Just a note that there is actually very history of the Lumix brand. Simply when panasonic started it, and then listing updates to cameras.

It's almost not worth having, as you learn nothing about how a camera line magically started up in 2001, no information about leadership, what Pansonic's goals were, etc etc — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.45.74.141 (talk) 20:43, 8 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
